Business rule of Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indonesia (YLKI)

History
YLKI is a nonprofit community organization and an
independent organization (non governmental organization) established in Jakarta on May 11, 1973. YLKI founding purpose is to raise critical awareness of consumers about their rights and responsibilities to protect themselves and their environment.

Background & Objective


The establishment of YLKI on May 11, 1973 originated from a group of community concern for the use of domestic products as well as how to protect it. While the goal is to provide guidance and protection to the consumers towards the welfare of the family.

Basic law
YLKI ratified by deed of establishment No.26 with

the Notary Loemban Tobing, SH. YLKI officially became the first consumer protection agency in Indonesia with Hardi Lasmidjah as Chairman. YLKIs position become stronger after confirmed by the Governor of Jakarta at the time Mr. Ali Sadikin, dated July 28, 1973 by Decree No. D.V-b.1/37/73.

Sector and forms of activities


The main areas of activity in this organization is

consumer protection. These areas are carried out mainly in the form of studies, research, surveys, education and publications, advocacy, seminars, consumer empowerment, and development and community assistance.

First, how to do is to complain by phone, mail or come directly.

Second, after the letters go into YLKI, receptionist registers all incoming letters as a whole (register I). The next letter was given to the Board daily at least three that are: (a) followed / not followed up (b) instead of consumer disputes (c) is not the priority scale. The letter is move to the Consumer Complaints Sector II designated as a data register complaints. Third, after the letter to the personnel who handle the administration of the selection here in the form of administrative completeness.

Strategy and Activities of YLKI


Advocacy Influencing the decision maker in industrial sector and government to fulfill their obligation to consumer on local and national level.
Solidarity Fundraising Increase by raising consumer awareness of critical solidarity between consumers, as well as through infrastructure activities of the various consumer groups.

Strategy of YLKI
Network Development Strengthen cooperation between consumer organizations and also with other community organizations at local, national, regional and international levels.
Dissemination of Information of Non-Pro Offset the existing information with the information and objective data obtained by other studies and evidence that can be accounted for.
