Introduction to DHCP Requirement of DHCP DORA Process APIPA Process DHCP v6 working Benefits of DHCP Conclusion
DHCP
DHCP ( Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol ) It is about configuring a machine. Its chief utility is assigning IP addresses dynamically to the nodes & to support the mobility of laptops. It is successor of RARP & BOOTP protocols. DHCP is a network based protocol used to dynamically assign IP address, subnet mask, default gateway & DNS servers.
DHCP
To Avoid manual IP configuration To avoid ambiguity Support mobility of Laptops On demand IP addressing

DHCP
A feature of Microsoft Windows, APIPA stands for Automatic Private IP Addressing It is a DHCP failover mechanism for local networks. With APIPA, DHCP clients can obtain IP addresses when DHCP servers are not working APIPA allocates IP addresses in the private range. Clients verify their address is unique on the network using ARP. When the DHCP server is again able to service requests, clients update their addresses automatically. In APIPA, all devices use the default network mask 255.255.0.0 and all reside on the same

DHCP
DHCP is a simple, standard protocol that makes TCP/IP configuration much better by dynamically assigning IP addresses It is can also manage additional configuration information using various options APIPA is useful for single segment networks that do not have a DHCP server DHCP v6 has an important role in IPv6 addressing & It is the future for IP address configuration
