First woman to drive a car in India was Mrs. Suzanne RD Tata The automobile sector is one of the key segments of the economy having extensive forward and backward linkages with other key segments of the economy.

It contributes about 4 per cent in India's (GDP) Gross Domestic Product

5 percent in India's industrial production.
