GoK, in partnership with the Belgium Government is undertaking a last mile connectivity counties. GoK is represented by the Directorate of eGovernment and the Belgium Government is represented by Siemens/Soulco Kenya. The survey was conducted from 12th July-10th August 2011 by the project team in 33 counties
Objectives

The main objectives of the surveys were to determine The current telephony infrastructure The requirements of provisioning for last mile connectivity to the county headquarters from the NOFBI terminations The existence of LANs and their utilization The number and utilization of ICT equipment Appropriate recommendations

CCP intends to use NOFBI to connect Counties to National Gov The National Optic Fibre Infrastructure is a government-owned terrestrial fibre network & maintained by Telkom Kenya A survey was conducted
Voice is supported by PABX ,different brands such as Siemens -90%, Omni 8%, Alcatel 1% and Panasonic 1% Of these, 59% are operational while 41% are non operational. 100% of the PABXs do not have external routing as they are disconnected due to non payment of bills
Telephony Infrastructure

No maintenance of the equipment is carried out by Ministry of Public Works. Staff therefore communicate via mobiles The PABX/Equipment rooms in a dilapidated state
LANs exist in the buildings where the District Treasuries are located. No maintenance of the LAN active components has been undertaken since they were installed
