CAREER PLANNING
CAREER: is all the jobs occupied by a person during his
working life.

CAREER PLANNING: means helping the employees to plan


their career in terms of their capabilities within the context of
organizational needs.
It means devising an organizational system of career
movement and growth opportunities from the point of entry of
an individual in employment to the point of his retirement.
PROCESS OF CAREER PLANNING
 Involves four steps:
• Identifying individual needs and aspirations
• Analyzing career opportunities
• Aligning needs and opportunities:
i. identify potential of employees;
ii. undertake career development programs.
• Action plans and periodic review

 CAREER DEVELOPMENT: is the personal actions


one undertakes to achieve a career plan.

 The most important aspect of career development is that


every employee must accept his/her responsibility for
development. Various career development actions prove
useful if an employee is committed to career development.
