Declaration of Mount Safa:
 The Holy prophet preached his message privately in the
first three years
 Muslims offered their prayers secretly
 In 613 he extended the invitation to the public at large
 He wanted them to abandon idolatry, to worship God,
to believe in the Unity of God, to believe in the Day of
Judgment, to believe in his mission, to believe in the
equality of man, to do good and avoid evil, to be
righteous, to fulfill their trusts, to help those in distress
and to avoid frivolities.

Invitation to Banu Hashim:
 He invited Banu Hashim the men of his tribe towards the
new faith
 Like the Quraish the Banu Hashim disregarded the call of
the Holy Prophet
 They pitied him for having lost his sense in asking them to
abandon the worship of their Idols
 Ali, a boy of about thirteen was the solitary person among
the Banu Hashim who accepted the new faith.
 Abu Lahab, an uncle of the Holy prophet adopted a hostile
attitude and threatened the Holy Prophet

Persecutions of the Quraish:
 The Quraish commissioned the poets to produce
abusive poems and lampoons satirizing and
ridiculing the Holy Prophet and Islam
 Such hysterical efforts failed to arrest the growth of
Islam
 The Quraish launched a propaganda campaign
dubbing the Holy Prophet as an impostor, a mad
man, a soothsayer, a Kahin, a magic worker and so
on

Persecutions of the Quraish:
 When the propaganda policy failed the Quraish decided
to resort to violence and persecute the Muslims and the
owner of some slaves subjected them to severe tortures
 The Quraish launched a campaign of physical
persecution
 When ever the Holy Prophet passed through the streets
of Makkah he was ridiculed and jeered at by the
Quraish
 Dirt and filth was thrown on him

First Migration of the Muslims to Abyssinia:
• It happened in 615 AD
• The Holy Prophet advised to some of his followers to
migrate Abyssinia
• The ruler (Najashi) of Abyssinia was Christian but
known for his justice and tolerance
• Muslims migrated to Abyssinia in two batches
• The first batch consisted of about a Dozen persons
• The second batch comprised of about Eighty persons

Conversion of Hamza & Umar:
 It happened in 616 Ad
 Both were very strong and powerful
 These conversions had a great psychological
effect
 After the conversion of Hamza & Umar the
Muslims became strong enough to pray
publicly in the Kaabah which was a great
challenge for the Quraish

Second Migration of Muslims to Madina:
 In 620 AD 6 men from Yathrib visited Makkah
 5 out of these 6 accepted Islam
 In 621 AD some more persons came from Yathrib to meet
the Holy Prophet and they accepted Islam
 They expressed the desire that some scholar should be
deputed to go with them to Yathrib who should preach
the new faith to the people of Yathrib
 In Yathrib the mission of Musab b Umayr proved
successful and many people in Yathrib were converted to
Islam

Second Migration of Muslims to Madina:
 In 622 AD a larger delegation came from
Yathrib to perform the annual pilgrimage
 It comprised of seventy three men and two
women
 They undertook to protect him and resort to
war against his enemies
 The Holy Prophet asked his followers to
migrate to Yathrib in batches

Second Migration of Muslims to Madina:
 After about the migration of Muslims the
people of Quraish held a council of war and
decided to murder the Holy Prophet
 The plan was that the young men representing
all the tribes of the Quraish should besiege the
house of the Holy Prophet at night and
assassinate him in the early hours of the
morning when he came out of his house

Second Migration of Muslims to Madina:
 After three days with the slackening of the vigilance
of the Quraish, the Holy prophet and Abu Bakr
escaped from the cave and took the way to Yathrib
 They travelled by unfrequented path, and suffered
considerable hardship on account of scarcity of
water and severity of heat
 After six days journey the Holy Prophet and his
companion reached Quba on 23rd of September 622
AD

 At Madina Muslims were given a Royal
Welcome
 The world of Madina was quite different from
the world of Makkah
 At Makkah they were Persecuted people

 The days of Trials, Tribulations and Torture were over
 The year of migration became the first year of the
new Muslim Calendar
 After the migration Muslims built a new Common
Wealth and a new Ideal Society
 The first thing that the Holy Prophet called upon the
Muslims to do at Madina was to build a Mosque to be
the Prayer House and the State Headquarter as well

Life of Madina:
 Adjoining the mosque Apartments were
constructed for the household of the Holy Prophet
and some of the companions
 To Rehabilitate the migrants from Makkah the Holy
Prophet established a Brotherhood between the
Muslims of Makkah (Muhajreen) and the Muslims
of Madina (Ansars)
 Each migrant was paired with an Ansar of the
corresponding status

 At Madina the Holy Prophet founded the
Islamic Polity of the Principles of the
Sovereignty of God
 A charter of Rights and Duties was proclaimed

Battle of Badr:
 Fought in 2nd AH in accordance with 624 AD
 Total Number of Muslims was 313
 Total Number of Disbelievers was 1000
 The Muslims won the Battle
 It became one of the most Momentous wars
of the world which changed the course of
history

Battle of Badr:

As a Consequence of the Battle, the pride of the


Quraish was Humbled, and the other Tribes
around Makkah and Madina came to realize
that a new power had risen in the country and
more over the Battle set the Muslims on the
path to their destiny.

Battle of Uhud:
 Fought in 3rd AH in accordance with 625 AD
 Total Number of Muslims was 1000
 Total Number of Disbelievers was 3000
 In the End the Battle was Indecisive
 In the beginning the battle went well in favor of
the Muslims and the enemy met a reverse in
spite of its superiority and strength but in the
end Muslims got a lot of damage.

Charter to The Christians:
 The Holy Prophet gave them a charter
 The charter was a monument of
Enlightenment and Tolerance
 The charter provided that the Christians were
not to be unfairly Taxed
 No Bishop was to be Expelled from the
Monasteries

 No Christian was to be Restrained from the
performance of Pilgrimage

Hudaibiya Pact:
 It was signed in 6th AH in accordance with 628
AD
 Muslims were strong enough to deal with the
people of Quraish on equal terms

band of his followers about 1400 in numbers

Hudaibiya Pact:
 Quraish tried to prevent the entry of the Muslims in
Makkah
 The Holy Prophet sent Othman (R.T.A) as an envoy to
the Quraish for negotiations

Makkah and return to Medina
 Muslims carried no arm
 A rumor spread that Othman hab been killed by the
Quraish

Hudaibiya Pact:
 That rumor created a crises
 The Holy prophet sat under a tree and all the
Muslims in the camp took the oath that they
would fight to death to avenge the murder of
Othman
 The rumor proved to be untrue and Othman
returned to the camp along with the
representatives of the Quraish to negotiate terms

Hudaibiya Pact:
 A Pact was drawn up between the Quraish and
the Muslims
 This Pact is known as Hudaibya Pact in the
histrory
 A ten years truce was agreed to between the
 Quraish and the Muslims
 The Muslims were to return to Madina without
performing the Hajj that year

Hudaibiya Pact:
 It was agreed that the Muslims will come in
the next year and the Quraish will vacate the
city and Muslims could stay in Makkah for
three days

tribes

 The Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) wrote
48 Letters to kings of the different state
inviting them towards the new faith of Islam

in Arabia which had the potential of becoming
an International power

Pilgrimage to Makkah:
 It happened in 8 AH in accordance with 629 AD
 The Holy Prophet with two thousand trusted
followers proceeded to Makkha to perform the
Hajj

Madina
 The Muslims were now very strong enough
