Seminar
TOPIC: Structural
SOFTWARE: STAAD PRO
THEME: STAAD Workshop: Acquiring Techniques,
Applying Knowledge, and Enhancing the Skills
OBJECTIVES:
1. To gain basic skills in the design and planning of
building structures with precision and accuracy through
computer-aided design software.
2. To understand the concepts and techniques of using
computer design software with application of basic
knowledge and based on the standards.
3. To understand the impacts and design consideration of
the software.
RATIONALE

The foundation of every civil engineer with

regards to work is the capability to plan and design.
As technology engulfs our modern world, people
have made and designed computer programs to aid
us in our field of work. One of these is STAAD. Civil
engineers are expected to be knowledgeable in this
this particular area because this will provide ease,
accuracy and precision when it comes to the design
Seminar workshop on STAAD is a skill based
seminar which will helps students acquire
techniques with regards to its functions and
commands, apply their knowledge on civil
engineering based on standards and enhance their
skills in using the program. Having the basic skills
in STAAD will be very beneficial and will give
advantage when it comes to work.
STAAD Pro is an analysis and design software package
for structural engineering, used in performing the analysis
and design of a wide variety of types of structures. This
implies that it addresses all aspects of structural
engineering including model development, verification,
analysis, design and review of results. It includes
advanced dynamic analysis and push over analysis for
wind load and earthquake load.
Students are introduced to the concepts of structure
modelling, analysis, design and documentation. This
course offers hands-on exercises representing real-world

CE WORK/SITE VISIT

PLACE: Gemma Construction, Marbel South

Cotabato
OBJECTIVES:
1. To observe the different techniques and
activities out on site.
2. To explore the various types of building
materials and machinery used on site
3. To better understand the work of the
applying organization and specifics of their grant
application.
RATIONALE:

Theoretical knowledge is not enough if not

applied properly at field. Site visits create an
interactive learning environment for us students
and provide exposure to a real-world experience of
a structural project. It allows us to develop a
greater understanding of how civil engineering
theory is put into practice.
TIME FRAME:

4:00AM – 5:00AM - Assembly

5:00AM – 8:00AM - Departure/Breakfast/Arrival
