V Drama means to act or to do from a Greek

word dran. It is a composition in prose for


enactment, intended to portray life or
character or to tell a story by action and
dialogue. It involves enactment of life
situations for entertainment of for purpose of
understanding oneself and others.
V Ôheater includes drama activities which may
lead to the formal presentation of a scripted
play involving acting, directing, designing,
managing, and other technical aspects.
V Ôheater is a building designed for the purpose
of presenting dramatic performances before an
audience.

 the framework, the plan, or the main story line. It
requires a plot that is faster in progression and
without too much interruption in order to sustain
the interest of the audience.
*Ôhe progression of the plot in a play is from
exposition, through complication, to resolution or
denouement.

 the beginning of the play which sets the time and
place of the action. It familiarizes the audience
with the characters and situations they are in.
— Complication
 the middle of the play which develops the conflict
that was started in the exposition. Ôhis is the part
of the play where the audience gets to know the
audience more deeply. Flashbacks are employed to
enhance the characters and shed more light to the
conflict.
— ˜esolution or Denouement
 also called anticlimax or the crisis of the play. It is the
part of the play where there is a falling action right after
the climax. It is where a transition from an important event
to a less one occurs, the point where there is a shift in the
fortunes of the characters.

the locale and period in which the drama takes place, or the
scenery , props and costumes used in staging. It is the
background of the story in relation to where and when an
action takes place.

 the persons involved in the story, they may seem
real to us depending on how the playwright put
words on the paper to make the characters come to
life. Ôhey may be revealed directly or indirectly.

In ancient Greece, classical drama was an outgrowth of


the dithyramb which is a choral ode performed by chorus
which was originally made of fifty performers who sang
and danced at festivals.

as a building took its form in Athens. It was an openair
auditorium with an orchestra or a central circular space
that holds the seat for the audience.
