 Corporate social responsibility also known as
corporate responsibility, corporate citizenship,
responsible business, sustainable responsible
business , or corporate social performance.

 CSR is about how companies manage the


business processes to produce an overall positive
impact on society.
WHY CORPORATE SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY OCCURS:
 for economic, social, and environmental bottom lines
 community pressure to do so

 to enhance reputation

 as a branding exercise

 to improve community relations and public image

 to enable employees to enjoy new levels of responsibility


and leadership skills
 to improve employee satisfaction, morale and loyalty

 to get a sense of fulfillment as a result of contributing to


the community
NISSAN
 Nissan Motor Company, Ltd shortened to Nissan, is a
Japanese multinational automaker headquartered in
Japan.

 Currently it is the third largest Japanese car


manufacturer.
NISSAN'S APPROACH TO CSR

 Guided by the vision of Enriching People's Lives, Nissan seeks to


create value through its provision of products and services. Through
their corporate activities all around the world, they also aim to
contribute to the development of societies where they do business.

 Toward these twin goals they carry out management that combines
their pursuit of sustainable profitability with their efforts to bring
sustainable development to society.

 Making CSR principles part of their management approach is an


effective way to make this alignment a reality. They believe it is also
a way to build relationships of trust with their diverse stakeholders.

contribute to economic development while improving
the quality of life of the workforce and their families as
well as of the local community and society at large”

LEVI’S
 As a part of a global launch of products made of
100% organic cotton, Levi’s introduced its new
Eco jeans for customers who want to “minimize
their personal impact on the environment.”

 Even the garment tags and packaging are made


of organic fabric or recycled paper and printed
with soy-based ink.
HINDALCO INDUSTRIES
CSR ACTIVITIES IN
HINDALCO INDUSTRIES
 As a Group they have been and continue to be extremely
sensitive to societal needs.
 In their own small way, they tried to bring in:

--some relief and make a difference to the lives of the


weaker sections of society.
--try to provide health care
--raise life expectancy
--reduce infant mortality
--Through endeavours in education ,lifted literacy rates.
--Through empowerment and training processes, promoted
sustainable livelihood.
IN HEALTH CARE
 At the medical camps conducted, villagers were
examined and those afflicted were treated for their
ailments.
 Cataract operations were performed.

 Patients diagnosed with tuberculosis were treated.

 At their HIV / AIDS awareness programmes, they


enlisted over 15,443 participants.
 Physically challenged persons were provided with
artificial limbs fitment and reconstructive surgery.
 At the Company run hospitals at its various plants, over
4.26 lacs of people are given medical care at extremely
subsidized rates.
IN EDUCATION
 Many students earned scholarships.
 Books and uniforms were provided to rural students.

 Students were given incentives to continue education.

 Career counseling programmes were conducted for


students, and several were sponsored to I.T.I. Vocation
Centers.
SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD
 More than 115 programmes were held on repair and
maintenance of diesel pump sets, electric and electronic
goods, hand pumps bags, rope making, tailoring and
knitting.
 Rural youth were trained for self employment.

 Agriculture - Training in crop diversification, floriculture


demonstration, integrated pest management and post
harvest technology has benefitted over 19,864 farmers.
 11,915 farmers benefitted from our Watershed
Development projects which ensure optimum use of land
and water resources.
INFRASTRUCTURE

 Infrastructure development through the construction of


better roads, potable water systems, biogas plants,
building of community centers, animal sheds,
construction of dry toilets, provision of street lights and
electricity, subsidizing houses.

 Panchayat meeting halls, school buildings and


community halls are also being supported.
