ABSTRACT
 The use of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) in concrete as partial
and full replacements of natural coarse aggregate (NCA) is growing
interest in the construction industry, as it reduces the demand for virgin
aggregate. In addition, the use of RCA leads to a possible solution to the
environmental problem caused by concrete waste, and reduces the
negative environmental impact of the aggregate extraction from natural
resources. This paper presents a comprehensive review on the use of RCA
in concrete based on the experimental data available in the published
research. The most important physical, mechanical, and chemical
properties of RCA are discussed in this paper. However, more emphasis
has been given to discuss the effects of RCA on the fresh and hardened
properties, and durability of concrete. This paper also identifies the gaps
existing in the present state of knowledge on RCA and RCA concrete, and
provides some recommendations for future research
INTRODUCTION
 Concrete is a vital building material that is an absolutely
essential component of public infrastructure and most
buildings.
 It is most effective when reinforced by steel rebar, mainly
because its tensile strength without reinforcement is
considerably low relative to its compressive strength.
 It is also a very brittle material with low tolerance for strain,
so it is commonly expected to crack with time. These cracks,
while not compromising structural integrity immediately,
do expose the steel reinforcement to the elements,
leading to corrosion which heightens maintenance costs
and compromises structural integrity over long periods of
time.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS
PROJECT
 One of the main disadvantages in constructing
houses is high cost of the building. High cost is
primary requirement for constructing the house
in places where people are below poverty line,
is becoming one of the most significant problem
of peoples. On the other hand, urbanization
growth will increase rubbish especially non-
renewable ones. Eco friendly architectural
principles are being incorporated into more
buildings every day in the world but they are
still out of reach of many people due to lack of
knowledge and awareness
AIM AND OBJECTIVE
 Design project which works on recycled
aggregates.
 To evaluate the possibility of recycling
aggregates
 To investigate the civil behavior of the
unit.
 To test and compare the compressive
strength
WORKING PRINCIPLE

 Concrete aggregate collected from

demolition sites is put through a crushing
machine. Crushing facilities accept only
uncontaminated concrete, which must be
free of trash, wood, paper and other such
materials.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
WORKING PRINCIPLE

 Metals such as rebar are accepted, since

they can be removed with magnets and
other sorting devices and melted down
for recycling elsewhere. The remaining
aggregate chunks are sorted by size.
Larger chunks may go through the
crusher again. After crushing has taken
place, other particulates are filtered out
through a variety of methods including
hand-picking and water flotation.
Parts
This construction requires some of the
basic materials which ensures a stable and
also results in cheap construction as
compared to normal. Materials uses for
construction are:
 1) Sand
 2) Recycled Aggregates
 3) Cement
 4) Water

Conclusion
 Concrete the construction material is a proportionate
combination of ingredients such as cement, fine
aggregates, course aggregates and water. Due to rapid
growth in construction activity, the available sources of
natural aggregates are getting exhausted. Also, good
quality sand may have to be transported from long
distance, which adds to the cost of construction.
Therefore, it is necessary to replace natural aggregates
in concrete by recycled aggregate either partially or
completely without compromising the quality of
concrete. The present study is aimed at utilizing
recycled aggregates and use of it in various applications.
