Retail Management Project

Jada Reed & Will Sekhon

Planning
● A new shoe line with a more creative and artistic style
● To increase sales and profit for this new line of shoes we will contribute to our
target market by including deals, reward cards, and sales that will attract
customers to buy our products through the ideal of “saving money” and
upgrading their style at the same time
● Working with a well-known company like Nike, publicity will be high and able
to increase sales with the brand introducing a new “hot” product on the market
● Getting the word out on social media & building momentum in the market area
is a key objective
● Evaluating the price and sales of competitors will also help grasps an idea of
how to run sales and promote our new product/ shoe line to consumers
Organizing
➢ To gain the materials we need we will buy from Nike’s suppliers, who are
located outside the U.S and will allow us to produce a profitable shoe.
➢ For the production of our new shoes we are going to need a manufacturer,
since our shoes are made within the company Nike, the shoes are going to be
produced in one of Nike’s manufacturing plants.
➢ To get the idea of our shoes out there, we are going to use influencers. We will
look towards well known people (youtubers, people on instagram, movies
stars, etc.). There will also be advertising on TV, monthly ads, and social media
platforms.
➢ The work of the making the shoes profitable will be distributed to groups of
employees our financial advisors will be held accountable for crunching the
numbers.
➢ The shoe will be sold in Nike stores, online, and throughout Nike’s known
affiliates (Dick’s, Famous Footwear, Footlocker, Finish Line, etc).
Staffing
● For getting the word out about this product and being able to finance and
promote our product correctly, the staff we have to hire have to be very
energetic, open-minded, and hardworking.
● Training employees to greet customers properly and making them feel
welcomed and being a helping hand when needed.

People to hire might include:

❖ A Shoe Designer/Illustrator -2 to 3
❖ A Financial analyst - 4 to 5
❖ Teens-Young Adult Staff Members(working with customers) - 10 to 15
❖ Sales/Marketing Associates -5 to 6
Implementing/Leading
★ To gain the approval of the employees within our company the idea of the new
shoes needs to be expressed creatively. Telling them where the idea came
from and who inspired it will allow the employees to feel more involved and
thus motivated to see the success of the product.
★ To get the general public behind the idea of our new shoes the use of public
figures will be important. If we can gain the support of someone famous then
all the people that look up to them will follow.
★ For the support of the person in charge of the company explaining to them
how this product is profitable will gain their support and motivate them to see
our idea through.
Controlling
❏ Evaluating the company/product’s success will be determined by aligning sales
with weekly/monthly growth in profit and in momentum/publicity. Also
encouraging customers to rate our survey through in-store and online surveys
so we are able to evaluate and analyze customer satisfaction and suggestions.
❏ If so happens that our sales and promotion strategies don’t go as planned, our
next step would be to implement new ideas and concepts to our business and
product. Modernizing things such as:
- Trying and testing new themes and ideals
- Evaluating sales tactics and maneuvering promotional skills
- Upgrading staff members if needed
- Upgrading forms of public relations
