 Introduction
 History

 Applications

 Conclusion
In this we are generating electric power
as non-conventional method by simply
walking on foot step.

 Walking is the most common activity in

the human life. When a person walks he
loses energy to the road.

 This energy can be tapped and converted

in the usable form such as electrical form.

Contd.,
 The piezoelectric effect was
discovered in 1880, by two French
physicists brothers Pierre and Paul.

 They took the name from the

Greek word piezo, which means
"to press.“

 Electricity generation from foot steps

was proposed by Tom Jose V,
Binoy Bohan, Sijo M T.
 Energy produced by coal, petroleum, natural gas etc. are
called conventional sources. Where as the sources like
biomass, wind, solar etc. are called non-conventional energy
sources.
An alternative energy source:-
 The challenge – convert
footstep energy to electrical
energy.
 The solution – using
piezoelectric material and
solar panel.
 Other people have developed Rack-pinion
and pulley (mechanical-to-electrical)
surfaces in the past.
 It is also converted mechanical energy

into electrical energy.

 But the rack and pinion can only work

with certain levels of friction.

 Selecting suitable generator.

 Selection of springs.

 Moving parts- No long service life

The utilization of waste energy of foot power with human
motion is very important for highly populated countries.

 India and China where the roads, railway stations, temples, etc.
are all over crowded and millions of people move around the
clock.

 Walking across a "Crowd Farm," floor, then, will be a fun for

idle people who can improve their health by exercising in such
farms with earning. The electrical energy generated at such farms
will be useful for nearby applications.
 Average person takes around 4,000 steps a day.
 The idea focuses on a concept called

crowd farming.
 In this model small tiles are placed on

or under a walking surface.

 Then, as people walk over them,

these tiles rub against one another

and create electricity.

Solar energy:-

 Solar energy is nothing but the radiant energy emitted by sun. We

may convert this solar energy into electricity either directly using
photo voltaic (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power
(CSP) with the help of lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to
focus a large area of sunlight.

 This solar energy is mainly useful in solar street lights, auto solar
irrigation system, traffic junction signal lighting etc.
 A piezoelectric sensor is a device
that uses the Piezoelectric effect
to measure pressure, acceleration,
Piezoelectric sensor
force by converting them
to an electrical signal.
Applications:-
 Measurements with high

Accuracy, good repeatability,

high resolution.
Unidirectional current controller :-
 As name indicates this circuit allows only one direction current
flowing.
 Some devices that allow on unidirectional current are diodes ,
thyristors.
Inverter:-
 An inverter is an electrical device that converts DC(direct
current) to AC(alternating current).
 The converted AC can be at any required

voltage and frequency with the use

of appropriate transformers,
switching, and control circuits.
Lead-acid Battery:-
 Lead-acid batteries are normally available in blocks of 2V, 6V or
12V. In most cases, to generate the necessary operating voltage
and the capacity of the batteries for the Solar Inverter, many
batteries have to be connected together in parallel and/or in
series.

Liquid crystal display :-
 A LCD is a thin, flat panel used for electronically displaying
information such as text ,images, and moving pictures.
 It’s uses include monitors for computers , televisions , instrument
panels, and other devices ranging from aircraft displays , in
everyday consumer devices such as gaming devices, clocks,
calculators and telephones
 When ever force is applied on piezo electric crystals that force
is converted to Electrical energy is used to drive DC loads. And
that minute voltage which is stored in the Lead Acid battery.

 The battery is connected to the inverter.

This inverter is used to convert the 12 Volt D.C to the 230 Volt
A.C. This 230 Volt A.C voltage and various loads can be
operated on this A.C energy such as fans ,lights etc.
 Power generation is simply walking on step.
 No moving parts - long service life.

 Self-generating - no external power required.

 This is a non conventional system.
 Reliable.

 Eco-Friendly.

 Less consumption of Non- renewable energies.

 Pollution free power generation.

 No need of fuel input.

 Only applicable for the particular place.

 Initial cost of this arrangement is high.

 Output affected by temperature variation.

 Care should be taken for batteries in case of website and app

failure.
 Foot step generated power can be used for
 Agricultural
 Home applications
 Street-lightening
 Metros
 Rural applications
 Foot step power generation can be used in emergency
power failure situations.
 As India is a developing country where energy management is
a big challenge for huge population.

 By using this project we can drive both A.C. as well as D.C

loads according to the force we applied on the piezo electric
sensor.

This can be used for many applications in rural areas where

power availability is less or totally absence.
