CONCEPT
 The climbing cage (Raise climber) is a working platform designed to follow vertical
chimneys or inclined in underground operations.
 This team has five brakes and all should be operational by security personnel and
equipment.
 It is also important that when you finish making a fireplace all equipment is
disassembled to be performed maintenance or overhaul and keep in good condition for
the next raise climber fireplace.

IMPORTANTES

Proper maintenance of the climbing cage with the right parts is extremely important to
achieve good efficiency in advance, for it is also important to use drills and good quality
steels and in good condition. For these reasons the operators who will use the equipment
should be experienced and full knowledge of the team.
2
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RAISE CLIMBER
The climbing cage is driven by a rack and pinion system along a special guide rail. The
rails consist of lengths of 1018mm and 1998mm anchored to the rock with expansion
bolts.

The basic components of the cage are as follows:

Transmission unit with the rack gears meshing guide rail.
The transmission units may be driven by air motors, electric and diesel.
It is worth mentioning that if the unit has a centrifugal brake is to limit the speed of the cage during
descent by gravity.
An assembly frame with rollers and emergency brake. This emergency brake or safety brakes
automatically stop the machine if the speed exceeds the predetermined safe value.
Work platform and safety cage ceiling for staff.

An assembly frame with rollers and emergency brake
IMPORTANTES

During the inspection should observe the

state is this beam, since a bent or damaged
beam does not ensure a good team
performance. Similarly with the safety brake
and large rollers which must be in good
condition.

Work platform and cage roof security for staff.

IMPORTANTES

The roof safety should always be used and especially

installed with an inclination angle.

5
INSTALLATION IN RAIL STATION

The stability of the equipment at the station should be as safe

and depend on the spacers to place on the rails, spacers or
long distant installed roof rails could be the cause of an
accident with the team when speed drops to the station.
An inclination angle must have the rails on the camera for a
better drop by gravity and maintenance of equipment.
should not be placed rails 3rd, 7th or 2 direct rail to rail 25º
meters before the rails must be installed 8th both input and
output (8th in - 8 out)

RAIL SECURITY (116959)

The safety rail with four brackets of 2 meters is installed after the rails in the bend and every
50 meters in competent rock, otherwise every 20 meters 16 when the rock is bad.

9
INSTALLING SPACERS IN THE CURVE

The correct way to install the rails in the curve is using the short spacers so that they are
close to the ceiling, calculating the distance with guiding electric cable and the camera or
station avoid placing long spacers to prevent it from swinging equipment .

10
CABLE guiders

The cable guiding prevent the electric motor amperage increase and damage to the electric wire, at least
three guiding should be installed especially in the curve.
When the cable constantly rubs rock the relay electrical panel will disconnect power due to increased
current and stop the computer where you are so it is the importance of the guiding and cleaning of the
rails in the curve and maintaining the guiding rollers cable.

INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS
Consider what is shown in the images or be prevent expansion bolts are exposed to rock falls, so that
there are different measures of spacers.

All Arkbro expansion bolts are certified ensuring a good performance when
used. Expansion bolts made locally without certification jeopardize the integrity
of equipment and personnel.

12
CLAMP FOR EXTRA BRACKET ( 315752)

Place an extra bracket it could be used in some cases

when the fireplace is inclined less than 50 ° or where the
rock is not hard.
The bracket is adapted in the back of the rail pipe (water
pipe) and a staple and a spacer of at least 100 mm (4 ")
is compressed.

spacers (at unusually over break):

Spacer 100mm (4”)
Spacer 200mm (8”)
Spacer 300 mm (12”)
Spacer 500 mm (20”)

13
SPECIAL CORD

When the guiding cable are not used then the power
cord suffers wear and tear because this premature
contact the rock, also forcing the electric motor which
increases the amperage and power is interrupted.

Sometimes when the sheath electrical cable is not

appropriate then breaks become more frequent,
threatening the operating conditions with the equipment.

MINERA ALMAX SAC

STATIC LOAD OF THE CAGE TREPADORA

The permitted maximum static load for a team of a transmission unit is

2,500 kg. The weight of the cage, the strength of the drilling, the weight
of the hose and electric cable is included.
The maximum static load transmission gear in a climbing cage is 1.250
Kg. For an ABI 5-E.
So the importance of the sprocket teeth are in good condition as are the
teeth that bear the weight.

WEAR TOLERANCE PIÑON

By the above, the sprockets must be in good condition and be replaced in time.

The sprockets must be replaced when the width of the wear tooth thickness is 15
mm. It is the original measure of a pinion 17.5mm

CHECK THE WEAR WITH GAUGE PIÑON No.

9046516-000
15
PIÑON: MAIN ELEMENT INSPECTION

During the evaluation of the sprockets must observe the state of the rails on the camera, some are clean
otherwise are mud or stones in these cases the rails should be cleaned before operation, since working
with dirty rails or cemented pinion wear prematurely.
When the tooth of a pinion has more wear than the other sprocket tooth then it is probably due to the
following reasons:
Bad timing, this should be checked by mechanics in their scheduled visits.
dirty or stones in the curve rails.
• Rails in poor condition (worn pins)
• Large rolls in poor condition
• High starting current engine.
16
WEAR GUIDE ROLLER
When the rails are not in good condition roller guides are suffering
consequences.

When the rollers are not cleaned or greased, they lose internal
lubrication and wear out and dried rusting therefore becomes
unusable and that no longer rotates. Taking into account the large
rollers inspection should slowly rotate at least.

The large roller is the critical roll, which must be inspected

frequently, since wear or internal rupture would bring dire
consequences for the spent roll form a larger space between the
roller and the rail being exposed to the equipment as possible
freefall in any continuous vibration.

WEAR TOLERANCE GUIDE ROLLERS

17
CONDITIONS OF THE RAILS
The good condition of the rails is important for better computer performance, this will allow a longer life of
components and especially the care of the pinion and rollers.

18
TOLERANCE OF THE RAILS
Main (STATION)

It is recommended to make a wall at the height of the curve so that no clearance to

enter the camera. In some mine has also seen a screen door to prevent tampering with
the equipment, placing security key (lock out) in one of the electrical panels.
Main (STATION)

The dimensions of the station in the manuals are recommended minimum dimensions,
and it should be noted that the clearing should not enter the main chamber.
WORK PLATFORM (173475)

Below a new platform and a worn and neglected platform.

The platform must be kept free of obstacles and be slip-resistant so that operators will not trip or slip.
A platform dented, borderless or mud cemented presence threatens the integrity of the operator because
when drilling platform is wet because the water line clean drill holes and dripping into the metal floor.
A platform should not be over-sized to its original design without authorization and approval of the
manufacturer. The standard platform is 1.6mtsx1.6mts for fireplaces 2 x 2 mts.
BUFFER (432 – 804)
This rubber stopper is placed at the end of the climbing cage to avoid frontal impact between iron bars,
which in the rate of descent cause serious accident if the correct brake control is not taken.

The damper rubber stopper which prevents the cage main impact strongly
with the auxiliary cage must not be cracked. This component is called
Rubber Buffer (432 804) and should not miss in the store, preferably have
the originals as from other sources suffer premature cracking.
IMPORTANCE OF THE CAGE OF SERVICE

Be aware that is a cage of service and

maximum load is 3 people or 350 kg, only
has a pinion and its rate of descent by gravity
is 25 to 30 mt / min. For use in drop by gravity
with cage service braking equipment it is
recommended every 10 to 15 meters, this in
order to avoid the acceleration of the
equipment and the dynamic forces.

Arkbro recommends that every four years must renew the emergency
brake Cage service.
A cage service must be on standby placed with a 2 meter rail for quick
installation. For emergency.

Cage service is in good condition its stop point, this to prevent the rails out
of the cages. This component is called Bottom Stop complete (474 282)
and is placed in the first lane.
The emergency brake - 184,338

The emergency brake is one of the main brake is operated

when the cage exceeds the speed allowable descent, ie at 54
m / min (0.9m / s) ie acts at 150-155 RPM, decreasing speed
gradually and the computer acting as a parachute.

But also it acts an emergency brake when there is excessive

vibration or wear components such as rollers or sprockets, or
where the rails are with stones and in poor condition.

In both cases it is important to reset the emergency brake.

IMPORTANTES

If the emergency brake is activated continuously it is recommended to stop the equipment, and
inform the supervisor and security personnel for general inspection of the cage, and it should not
be only brake problem if not components of the cage which are in poor conditions which must be
solved by maintenance personnel.
EMERGENCY BREAK
YOUR PROTECTOR PLATO (No. 445142)
RESET PROCESS emergency brake
The reset can be done in the same cage or in the shop, although it is
recommended to do in the workshop, in these cases it is necessary to
have another reserve brake.

the four bolts are loosened and the brake drum preferably rotates with
the reset tool (386-150) in the direction of the arrow until the white line
is in the open space of the red line.

the drum is then rotated in either direction until the holes are in the
correct position.

TEST SPEED (RPM)

With a tool made in the workshop, crank type
tested at variable speed the rpm and the brake
must act within the permissible range, it is
checked using the tachometer and regulated with
the adjusting nut, then register with the notebook
maintenance test with date and name.
CENTRIFUGAL BRAKES

This brake consists of a hub and two shoes. When the electric motor is rising, this brake
does not operate, but declining, or turn reverse the shoes make contact with the drum at
the speed of 2100 RPM. Team speed 25 to 30 mt / min.

Measure the thickness of the brake pads, 3mm is the minimum allowable thickness.

The range of light between the hub and the yoke is in range of 0.011 "-0012"
DRUM INSPECTION

These drums must be healthy, free from grease or oil, oxides or

impregnated cleaning powders on drums.

FOOT BRAKE (274 412)

Important brake must not be used as stop also controls the rate of descent, use every 10 meters or
3 rails decrease raise climber. Check the wear of the shoe and not have much play arch of the
shoe.
PARKING BRAKE
With the brake disengaged the wheel should rotate easily. With the engaged brake lever or the
steering wheel will rotate slowly parked signal that the parking brake is in good condition.

To measure the capacity of the parking brake this must be done in the workshop or in the camera
(horizontal), applying the principle of torque.

The minimum allowable torque is 40 Nm parking (or 4 Kpm)

It recommends setting to 6 Kpm.

DRIVE UNIT

Important oil change according to the maintenance

program, when the crown is replaced or a new
transmission unit, it is recommended that the oil is
changed week. The aim is to remove impurities or
bronze chips that appear when acting rotating parts.

Also check the wear of the teeth of the crown. One

new measures 2.8mm and 1.8mm minimum is
permissible.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPERATORS
(IN EACH GUARD)

CLEANING
Washing with pressurized water jet equipment and especially
the rails of the curve. Cleaning the mud, rock fragments etc.
Air pressure, torching the tracks and lubricate them with a little
grease on the rails, so that the pinion crossed without difficulty.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPERATORS
(IN EACH GUARD)

SAFETY BRAKE
Observe before you start working with the team, the white mark is displayed in the viewfinder right
place. If there is displacement, pressing a reset and locate the cause of the reset.

BRAKE CONTROL
Check before operating the equipment, handbrake, standing and centrifugal brakes. They must be
in good condition. For this it is recommended that before coming up with tools and equipment
must be tested climber raise up approximately ten meters high and then descend by gravity
testing handbrakes and foot pedal.

LOWERING SPEED WITH LIMITED

The download speed is recommended gravity in the range of 25 to 30 mt / min, every 10 meters or
3 rails go braking with the pedal to control the speed is recommended.

DAILY DAILY REPORT OR BOOK

A report incidents should be done in each call for knowledge of supervisors and counterguard
equipment status. This will serve as a book of life of the raise climber.
OPERATOR SAFETY

parantes

Although it may seem uncomfortable it is a security tool that protects equipment and mainly the
operator.

LIFE LINE

Operators should work with their lifeline (shock absorber) on the platform guard all work until it
is in the cage.
