 Introduction
If we are going to look on our modern world today we can
see how computer technology affects the students especially
the freshmen. But how computer games influenced the
students? This study will help us to realize, what are the
effects of playing computer games to our fellow students?
Like these popular games Cabal, DOTA and Ran. These
games are popular to all students who play computer games in
internet shops. Also this study may help to know some bad
effects of playing computer games like they don’t have
enough time for their studies and they spend too much money
because of these addictive games and worst is they learned
how to gamble by playing computer games. Or we will know
some advantages of playing computer games from our fellow
students.

 Statement of the Problem
This study was conducted to know the effects of
computer games on freshmen I.T. students in
NEUST, SIC and it sought to answer these specific
questions:
• The reasons why students play computer games.
• The benefits of playing computer games.
• The behavior of student who plays computer games.
• The amount of money they spend in playing
computer games.

 Significance of the Study
This study was conducted to know the effects of
playing computer games on freshmen I.T. students
especially for their academic performance. This study will
help students and instructors, because they will know the
reasons why some students most likely to play computer
games than to attend to their classes. This will help the
instructor to understand some problems of the students
regarding to their subjects and what are their reasons why
they play computer games rather than attending their
classes. We will also know the advantages of playing
computer games for them.

This study was conducted at NEUST,
SIC where the subject are the effects of
playing computer games especially for the
freshmen I.T. students for the school year
2008 – 2009.

 CONCLUSION
This term paper proves that most of the freshmen IT students
of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology San Isidro
Campus are playing computer games. Past time together with
hobby are the common reasons why these students are playing
computer games. Most of the respondents think that they will gain
more friends and will be familiar with other computer hardware
such as mouse and keyboard. Some of these freshmen students
agreed that playing these games too much may have bad effects
on their studies but still they continue to play. This also proves
that the first year IT students that are playing computer games are
day dreamer in class, weird and easy to be irritated. Most of the
respondents spend 10 to 50 pesos of their daily allowances in
playing. So, we can say that some of these first year students are
quite expensive. Some of the guardians of parents of these
students allowed them to play these games, but some of them are
not allowed.

 RECOMMENDATION
Computer games are created to have some fun with
friends, family and others. It can brings us temporarily to
other world with full of excitement and fun. So, we
recommend to our freshmen IT students of Nueva Ecija
University of Science and Technology San Isidro Campus
to play moderately, because playing computer games is
not bad but playing too much may affects their studies.
With moderate playing they can avoid being computer
games addict. Also, play only on their free or vacant time
and don’t prioritize playing these games than to their
studies.
