SEEBURGER
EDI(Electronic Data Interchange)
• Established in 1988 for transportation in railway department.
• EDI is a technology & seeburger is a tool
• EDI is a standardized data format by which business document can be
exchanged electronically it take place automatically between two
gateways or 2 server with security and without any human
intervention
EDI standards
• ANSI X12 : is a US standard means working on X12 domain means
working in retail industry
• Retail means buyer and seller and here X12 is a sub committee.
• EDIFACT : EDI for administration commerce and transportation
• ODETTE : European automotive industry
Advantages of EDI
• Error free data exchange
• Less human intervention
• huge volume of transactions
• Less operating cost
• eliminates time delay
• secure and accurate
AS2
• AS2 is a communication protocol for transferring files from one
system to another system OR one gateway to another gateway or one
server to another server
• common feature of AS2 is interoperability means any AS2 should be
able to exchange the data with any other AS2.
PARAMETERS OF AS2
• Certificate
• AS2 ID
• Host
• URL
• Port number
• MDN (synchronous and asynchronous)
• Encryption algorithm(3DES)
MDN
• Synchronous MDN means here we are giving acknowledgement back
to the partner if the partner not receiving acknowledgement within
120 Sec the connection will be live.

• Asynchronous MDN means if partner not giving acknowledgement


within 120 Sec the connection will be lost.
• we prefer to use asynchronous so that it will avoid hackers.

• To communicate with external client (partner) we need seeburger.

Seeburger front end
• Seeburger front end used for configuring communication protocol,
TPA and doing monitoring activities
• For doing monitoring activities need to ask
1) Track ID
2) TPA name
3) message ID
4) filename
Message tracker
• Message tracker used for checking the status of incoming and outgoing
messages
• for tracking incoming messages we need to ask partner such as
1. Message ID
2. source filename
3. track ID
4. purchase order number
• for tracking outgoing message we need to ask Back end(SAP)
1. IDOC number
2. Source filename
3. business object ID
4. purchase order number
BIC mapping designer

• BIC mapping design used for Converting an EDI file to XML format or
