Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
•Outlet and tail pipe
connection.

Both solutions are

acceptable.

The solution 90° allows to

save room and it’s the most
used.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 3

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 In contrast to the rules
defined for the conventional
roof drainage system a
reduction of the pipe diameter
in the direction of the flow is
allowed.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 4

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 Diameters changes in the horizontal pipe are made by eccentric reductions.
 They can increase or decrease the diameter but not all the configurations are
allowed.

The concentric reductions are not

advised.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 5

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 Diameters changes on the horizontal pipe are made by eccentric reductions.
 They can increase or decrease the diameter but not all the configurations are
allowed.

Recommended solution.
Diameter changing with an
eccentric reduction.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 6

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 Diameters changes in the horizontal pipe are made by eccentric reductions.
 They can increase or decrease the diameter but not all the configurations are
allowed.

Not recommended. The crown

of the pipe must be upwarded.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 7

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 The eccentric reduction allows to maintain the clamps alignment towards the
rail (or ceiling).

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 8

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 The eccentric reduction allows to maintain the clamps alignment towards the
rail (or ceiling).
 Eccentric reduction allows to realize a “step” slop useful in “gravity flow”
drainage stage (low rain intensity).

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 9

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 The horizontal pipelines do not need any slopes.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 10

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 The horizontal pipelines do not need any slopes.
 Negative slopes or upward bends are forbidden.

To avoid.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 11

 Negative slopes or upward bends are forbidden.

To avoid.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 12

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 Directions changes (horizontal and vertical): the solution with two bends
of 45°is advised.

Non recommended Recommended Recommended

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 13

Design and installation rules

Pipeline configurations
 The diameter changes close to collector-stack transition can be applied
observing the following rules.
Not recommended. The “crown”
of the pipe must be toward the
wall.

VALSIR S.p.A. – Engineering Design Department 14

 The offsets can be done to balance the
installation and must be done with 45°
bends.
