JOHARI WINDOW USES


Johari window is generally used for teaching, considering, administering and
understating of-

how individuals communicate with themselves and with others.

How individuals present themselves to themselves and to others.

How individual perceiver their place in world.


OTHER USES

Coaching to facilitate conversations around actions vs perceived motivations


To demonstrate dynamic in a team.
As a self-development that helps to consider one’s own behaviour vs reaction
EXAMPLE- 1
Increase open area through feedback solicitation-
Feedback develops the open area by reducing the blind area.
The open area can also be developed through the process of
disclosure, which reduces the hidden area.
A team which understands itself - that is, each person having a
strong mutual understanding with the team - is far more effective
than a team which does not understand each other.
EXAMPLE-2
New team member Johari window-
The open free region is small because others know little about
the new person.
Bind area is small because others know little about the new.
 Hidden or avoided issues and feelings are a relatively large
area.
Established team member-

The open free region is large because others know a lot about the person that the
person also knows.
Through the processes of disclosure and receiving feedback the open area has
expanded.

2) Plote the adjectives-
Open area- if adjectives are matching.
Blind area- business know nothing about, customer know
Hidden area- businessman knows, customer does not.
Unknown area- information which doesn't concern businessman or customer.
3)The larger the open area, the better
4)Can use feedback to lessen the blind area-
Will help the company to increase its open area and reduce the blind area.
This in turn, will give higher business for the company.

Some things are perhaps better not communicated. (your sexual behavior,
mental health problems or large scale failures).
Some people may pass on the information they received further than you desire
or use it in a negative way.

Some people take personal feedback offensively.
