 The department has little authority to control
its investment in computer system.
 One of the major role is to minimize cost to
operate the department and maximize the
utilization of resources.
 The cost of operating the department is
allocated to user department for their cost of
using IT.
 All funds are allocated by the company

 Profit Centre
 The department is operated similar to the
cost centre except the charge back is based
on markup price and it will carry some
percentage of profit on services rendered to
the end user department.
 The control and approval is still centrally
handled by the company management.

 Subsidiary company or business entity
 This is totally on business oriented operation
where the cost and income is seriously
considered by its own board of director for
any investment to be made,
 Initially the fund may come from its parent
company or loan from financial institution as
the working capital.

based on their role and function.
 The current business environment
requires the structure to be more
decentralize and collaborative type of
organization structure.
