4G, short for fourth generation, is the fourth
generation of mobile communication technology,
succeeding 3G and preceding 5G.
Mobility is one the most important features,in this
competitive world
Even 3G mobile network were being switched around
the world, the youngsters will always expect new
technology,there arises Fourth Generation Mobile

MAGIC Telecommunication

M – Mobile Communication
A – Anytime, anywhere
G – Global mobility support
I – Integrated wireless
C – Customized personal services
Need for 4G:
 User requirements are growing faster than ever
 Due to limitation of 3G
 Need of deploying technlogies.
 For business user
 Sales force automation
 Video conferencing
 Real time financial information
 For End user
 Video streaming, video calls ,TV broadcast
 Enhanced gaming,chating
Features of 4G:
 Fully IP based Mobile system
 High speed,High capacity and low cost per bit.
 Global Access and service portability
 Better scheduling and call admision control
 IP- packet switched network
 Better spectral efficieny
Speed of 4G:
 Theoretical speed

 Maximum download speed:86 Mbps

 Maximum upload speed:28.8 Mbps

 Actual speed

 Download : Varies upto 20 Mbps

 Upload : Varies upto 12 Mbps

Factors affecting speed

 Number of users in area

 Distance from antenna
 Available network resources
 Type of device and App in use
Technologies used in 4G:
 Smart Antennas
 IPv6 Technology
 VoIP Technology
 OFDM Technology
 SDR Technology
OFDM Technology:
 Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing
 Allows to transfer more data than that other
multiplexing
 Simplifies the design of transmitter and reciever
 Currently usen in WiMax and Wifi.
Advantages:
 Quickly download files over a wireless network
 Extremely high voice quality
 Easily access Internet,social network,Streaming
media,video calling,etc
 Higher bandwidth
 4G is 10 times faster than 3G
 Seamless network of multiple protocol and air interfaces
 Support other broadband services
Disadvantages:
 High data price
 Forced to buy new devices to support 4G
 Needs complex hardware
 New frequencies means new components in cell towers
 New technology
 Operating areas
 Misconception
4G Applications
 Virtual presence
 Virtual navigation
 Multimedia services
 Sensor in public vehicle
 Cameras in traffic light
 Fast route selection
 Tele medicine & education
Current Information:
 Bharat Airtel to Add 1,000 Company-Owned Stores by
December for 4G Rollout(Aug 3,2015)
 Reliance launched its telecom venture with over 1000
stores(July 25,2015)
 Airtel launches 4G trials in shillong(July 30,2015)
Conclusion:
 Though 4G is facing challenges and problems we belive
that future research will overcome these challenges and
integrate newly developed services to 4G networks
making them available to everyone, anytime and
everywhere
