What is the difference between
a coaching and leadership?
 Leadership is a lifestyle, a life perspective. It's
not just something you do at work. While
coaching can be considered similar in that regard,
it is more of a delivery mechanism.
 Leadership is an essence. Coaching is a process.
 A leader may use coaching to move things
forward. A coach can be a leader, but doesn't have
to be.
 Both are permission based. You can't lead
someone unless they give you permission, nor can
you coach someone without their permission.
MODELS OF
COACHING
FUEL MODEL
The four steps in the fuel model are:

 Frame the conversation.

Is to set the context for the conversation agreeing
objectives, processes and desired outcomes of the
discussion.

 Understand the current situation.

Is to explore the current situation from the point of view
of the coache, expanding their knowledge of the
situation to determine the issue of actual training.
 Explore the desired state.
Is to articulate the vision of success and explore several
alternative paths before methods to achieve this vision
prioritize.

 Lay out success plan

Is to identify specific action steps with specific deadlines to
be taken to achieve the desired results, and determine steps
for monitoring and accountability.

GROW MODEL

 The GROW Model is a simple yet powerful framework for structuring

coaching or mentoring sessions. GROW stands for Goal, Current
Reality, Options, and Will or way forward. A good analogy about the
GROW model is to think how you would plan a journey.

 You initially decide where you are going; understand where you
currently are; explore various routes to your destination and finally
proceed on the journey, successfully overcoming any obstacles you
may have along the way.
 Like most coaching models, the GROW model assumes that the
coach is not an expert in the client's situation. He only acts as a
facilitator, offering advice and helping the client choose the best
option of his own volition.
