The Father’s dream
◦When we approach God in prayer, he
wants that we do it with our whole heart.
He does not want that we follow the ways
of those people He complained to the
prophets about when He said, “they honor
me with their lips alone, through their
hearts are far away from me.”

◦Our world today desires for
authenticity. We all desire to
have things that are real and
not fake; we want relationships
that are real, and one built on
personal interests and we long
for leaders who are authentic.

 Authentic prayer
Authentic prayer is always
rooted from the heart, and
related to the neighbor in
loving compassion and
service.
 How to pray
Our prayer should be :
◦Grounded in Sacred scripture and the great prayers
of the Liturgy and of Christian tradition
◦Actively related to others in the concrete human
context
◦Consciously seeking to discern and follow the Spirit’s
movements
◦Open to personal growth through a constant “letting
go” which allows another to “tie you fast and carry
you off against your will.”
JESUS’ MESSAGE
EXPOSED
◦To be authentic is to be true
to one’s self and to the
commitments one has
made.
◦To be authentic in our prayer
also means being true to our
words.
◦CFC tells us that our prayer
should be grounded in the
Sacred Scriptures.
◦But the Scriptures are not the
only source of our prayer,
there is also liturgy and
Christian Tradition.
◦Authentic prayer is also
actively related to others in
the concrete human
context- Jesus does not only
pray for others, he matches
his prayer with concrete acts
of service.
◦Authentic prayer is conscious
of the movements of the spirit-
Jesus prays before the major
acts of his public life.
◦Every time we begin to pray to
Jesus it is the Holy Spirit who
draws us on the way of prayer
by His grace.
◦CFC tells us that authentic
prayer opens us to personal
growth- Jesus expressed his
submission to the will of the
father.
