LOCATION: Central Jail, Vijayawada

• Live project in A.P proposed by the Prison department due to inadequate capacity
and also due to bifurcation of the state

What is prison?
Prison is a facility in which inmates are forcibly confined and denied
a variety of freedoms under the authority of the state.

Why Prison?
Prisons have been one of the most neglected sectors in terms of
architecture. Most of the prisons in our country have been functioning the way they
used to since the British times. In terms of infrastructure the prisons need tremendous
up gradation. As one enters a space, whether positive or negative, he is psychologically
affected by that space.

ARCHITECTURE AND PRISON:

-Design Matters (Prisons are a part of infrastructure)

• Architecture sends a silent message to everyone walking into anyplace prisons
are the same.
Prisons should not be deprived of liberty, It should be the place where
Reformation occurs.
• When them are released, they should not go back to what they were going earlier,
Instead start a new life

THIS IS A LIVE PROJECT , FOR WHICH THE CONSTRUCTION PROPOSALS WERE

GIVEN BY L&T.
THE SITE OF THE NEW STADIUM WILL BE SPREAD ACROSS A 63 ACRE LAND IN MOTERA WHERE THE
EXISTING STADIUM HAS BEEN DEMOLISHED.

MORE REVENUE FOR THE STATE

LOCAL BUISSINESSES INCREASES ,MORE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE STATE. PARTICIPATION OF YOUTH
