Gastritis and duodenitis are among the most common
upper gastrointestinal abnormalities, being several
times more common than gastric ulcer or duodenal
ulcer, respectively.
CAUSES OF GASTRITIS

Helicobacter pylori,
Nonsteroid antiinflamatory drugs ( NSAIDs )
Alcohol.
RADIOLOGIC FINDING IN
GASTRITIS

The literature regarding radiologic findings in

patients with gastritis describes at least four useful
radiologic sign of this disease : thick folds,
inflammatory nodules, erosions and coarse areae
gastricae
CAUSES OF DUODENITIS

The causes of duodenitis parallel those of gastritis,

although are relationship of H.Pylori with duodenitis is
more problematic than its established association with
gastritis. NSAIDs and ingestion of hard loquor likewise
are significant causes.
RADIOLOGIC FINDING IN
DUODENITIS

The radiologic findings in duodenitis are thickening

of fold, nodules or nodular folds, and erosions.
ACCURACY OF RADIOLOGIC
DIAGNOSIS

Sensitivity for the prospective radiologic diagnosis

of symptomatic gastritis and duodenitis is probably
closer to 50 %. An important factor affecting
accuracy is that the radiologic examination of the
stomach in particular must be meticulous.
