 WHAT ARE SUBLIMINAL
MESSAGES?

A subliminal message is a signal or message designed to

pass below (sub) the normal limits of perception. For
example it might be inaudible to the conscious mind (but audible
to the unconscious or deeper mind) or might be an image
transmitted briefly and unperceived consciously and yet perceived
unconsciously.
 USES IN
ADVERTISEMENTS:

In advertisements they sometimes try to make it look

different from what it actually is, to attract the very
eyes of the customers.
At times they make such adds that have multiple
meanings to convey their message to masses in
different forms.
Sometimes these messages are used by a person or
group to criticize other persons or groups and to
arouse the emotions of people against them.
 TYPES OF
SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES:

1. Sub-visual messages visual cues that are flashed so quickly

(generally a few milliseconds) that people dont perceive them.

2. Sub-audible messages low volume audio cues that are

inserted into a louder audio source, such as music.

3. Back masking an audio message that is recorded backwards,

with the intention of playing it forward to disguise the reversed
message.

Subliminal messages are messages (phrases and images) that

operate below the level of conscious awareness and delivered in a
way to be perceived from the subconscious mind. They may
be audio subliminal messages and of course, visual.
For example, we can take the phrase
I am confident and embed it into a music track where the
conscious mind will not hear it clearly or in a video in
which will be displayed for a split second, so the conscious
mind will not have enough time to process it logically. In
both cases, the phrase is clearly perceivable from the
subconscious mind.
