RULES: TYPE 1
Conditional sentence consists of two clauses. The if-
clause and the main clause.
For type 1, the condition makes sense with the result,
that may happen in the future. (Syarat dan hasilnya
masuk akal, dan mungkin/pasti terjadi di masa depan
jika syaratnya terpenuhi).
The If-Clause uses Simple Present (V-1), Present ToBe
(am, is, are), or Present Modals.
The Main Clause uses WILL, CAN or MAY.
If the if-clause is in the beginning, you have to put a
comma.
CONDITIONAL SENTENCE: TYPE 2
If I had so much money, I would give it to the
charity and help homeless people.
If Andi had a driving license, he would be an
UBER driver.
Kelvin would build a house for his parents if he
were rich like Al-Ghazali.
Seno could travel around the world if he were
a pilot.
If Olvia were a stewardess, her parents would
be so proud of me.
RULES: TYPE 2
For type 2, the condition havent been fulfilled / less
fulfilled at the moment, (present unreal situation),
and the result less likely to happen in the future.
(syarat untuk terjadinya belum terpenuhi /
peluangnya kecil untuk terpenuhi, sehingga hasilnya
hampir mustahil untuk terjadi di masa depan.)
The if-clause uses Past Tense (V-2), Past ToBe (only
were), and Past Modals.
The main clause uses WOULD, COULD or
MIGHT.
CONDITIONAL SENTENCE: TYPE 3
If I had done the KWU homework last night, I
would not have been punished by Mrs. Yani.
My bike would have worked well this
morning if I had full-tanked the fuel.
Nadia would have been a student of SMKN 1
if she had passed the passing grade.
If I had owned a pair of wings, I would have
flown.
RULES: TYPE 3
For type 3, the result will never happen because the
condition was not fulfilled in the Past / the chance to
fulfill the condition has gone. (hasilnya tidak akan
pernah terjadi, karena syaratnya tidak terpenuhi di
masa lalu / kesempatan untuk memenuhinya sudah
lewat/hilang).
The if-clause uses Past Perfect (had + V-3)
The main clause uses Modal Perfect (Past Modal +
Have). Ex:
WOULD HAVE, COULD HAVE, MIGHT HAVE
