Why do I have to attend this


professional development?
This professional development is designed to help teachers enhance
their classroom assessment methods
It is beneficial for teachers to use a variety of different assessment
methods because
Teachers are able to assess a broader range of skills
Students are motivated more
Teachers are able to cope better with larger classes
Plagiarism is deterred

How long will this professional


development take me?
This professional development workshop is designed to take 16 weeks
of the school year
Staff will meet every Thursday at 2:15 p.m. after the students are
released
For the first 16 weeks of school, students will be released 1 hour
early every Thursday to allow teachers time for the professional
development.
After the 16 weeks are over, teachers will be observed by their peers
to monitor assessment implementation strategies
Instructional coaches will provide necessary guidance and assistance
throughout the professional development time period

Who will be providing the


professional development?
Esmeralda Avila, Instructional Specialist will be in charge of the
professional development
If teachers have any questions or concerns please contact Ms. Avila to
receive additional guidance or assistance
Our in school instructional coaches will also be able to help teachers if
they need additional help
