Child or Learner-Centered
Approach
This approach to curriculum design is based on the
underlying philosophy that the child is the center of
the educational proces. It means that the curriculum
is constructed based on the needs, interest,
purposes and abilities of the learners. The
curriculum is also built upon the learners
knowledge, skills, learnings and potentials.

Subject-Centered Approach
Anchored on the curriculum design which prescribes
different and separate subjects into one broad field, this
approach considers the of:
1) the primary focus is the subject matter.
2) the emphasis is on bits and pieces of information which are
detached from life.
3) the continuing pursuit of learning outside the school is not
emphasized. Learning should only take place inside the classroom.
4) the subject matter serves as means of identifying problems in
living.

CURRICULUM: QURANIC
PERSPECTIVE
And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad s.a.w.) the Book (this Qur'an) in
truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and Mohayminan (trustworthy in
highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures) . So judge between them by what
Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth
that has come to you. To each among you, We have prescribed a law (al-din) and
a clear way. If Allah willed, He would have made you one nation, but that (He) may
test you in what He has given you; so strive as in a race in good deeds. The return
of you (all) is to Allah; then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ.
