GOALS
regional office of the Northern India
division
Two levels retail area at GF &FF
three main companies that will
operate from this commercial
complex will be :
Indiabulls Housing Finance
Limited( IBHFL), Indiabulls Real
Estate Limited (IBREL), and
Indiabulls Ventures Limited (IBVL).

Progress of work before joining:

Excavation and shore piling work was
already done on the project
Partial Excavation was done by
means of Poclane excavator (60-70
cubic metre)
219 shore piles ( 1 m diameter ) @ a
spacing of 1.2 m spacing c/c . Total
length of shore pile = 17.875 m.

Excavation
Ramp along front face external road
Three stages
1st cut : 5-6 m
2nd cut : 4-5m
3rd cut : primarily for tower area

SHOTCRETING
The pile wall surface to be treated shall be exposed
and loose soil shall be cleaned manually using trowels
Pre wetting of the earth surface between piles by
water spray
Prior to wetting of surface, steel wire mesh (100 mm x
100 mm x 3mm thick) shall be fixed
The shortcrete shall begin from top of cut slope and
proceed downwards

Specifications:
Water / Cement ratio 0.5
Water and Air pressure 1-1.5 kg/cm^2
Shotcrete Admixture used- Dr. Fixit integral waterproofing
powder Dosage : 500 gms per 50 kg of cement
Cement Portland Pozzolana ( Fly Ash Based)
Water Potable tap water

TIE BACK ANCHORS

Due to high excavation

depth TIE BACK
ANCHORS were used to
retain shore piles in their
position because of Earth
and Water pressure from
outside. These anchors
are active anchors having
5nos of 12.7mm HT
strands grouted with neat
cement and anti
shrinkage admixture
CEBEX-100 which was
Post- stressed and Lockoff on 40 Tonne load, they
support the shore piles
They were installed into
retained soil with
Hydraulic Rotary Drilling
equipment.
Once the specified
capacity was obtained,

UPLIFT ANCHORS
Due to the water table being
too high (4 to 5m from NGL)
passive anchors were used to
counter uplift pressure of
underground water in nontower area, these anchors are
passive anchors in nature
having 3nos of 32mm dia of
TMT steel grouted in 200mm x
12mtr bore holes from PCC
bottom with neat cement and
non- shrinkage admixture
CEBEX-100, and lastly joint
with main reinforcement of raft.

Dewatering

Motors of 1.5 hp to
3.0 hp to be
provided and
operated for 24 hrs.
Total planned
capacity is 40-50hp
as per required and
as per water strata.
Providing all bores
and pumps
externally in line of
existing shore piles
to avoid damage
during execution of
soil retention work.
Dewatering shall be
carried out till

LAYING of PCC

A layer of 100mm
thickness of PCC was
laid by pouring
concrete after dressing
the soil to desired
level. The pouring was
done using concrete
pumps.

Foundation Drawings

RAFT FOUNDATION

Pour Sequence for the raft was been given in the

Drawings
The Mix- proportion of M-35 grade of concrete
was used and was provided by the RMC plant
near the site.

Deployment of Equipment and Labour

LAYING AND FIXING OF

REINFORCEMENT
Reinforcement was laid in sequential layers
for every pour of concrete as per the
structural drawings.
The first layer of bars was laid maintaining a
clear cover of 75mm
All cover blocks were rectangular/ circular in
shape
Spacing of cover blocks were in such a way
that meets the cover requirement as per
drawing.
Vertical dowels were fixed simultaneously. A
minimum clear cover was maintained to the
extreme reinforcing bars, which is main
reinforcement at raft top.

The ply form work was used as a shuttering backed by wooden

rectangular-shaped timber battens. Wooden ply panels boards
were assembled in-situ and aligned using plumb bob for the
construction of Raft foundation.

CLEANING OF CONCRETE POUR AREA

Cut pieces of rebars, timber, cotton pieces and
any other foreign materials was removed from
the area to be concreted.
Concrete surface was cleaned with air jet before
pouring the next layer of concrete.
Rain water or water from any other source, which
may accumulate on previously laid concrete
surface, was completely removed by the use of
small Tulu-pumps and air jet. However the surface
was saturated with water before placement of
concrete.

PLACEMENT OF
CONCRETE

Once reinforcement and formwork is duly

inspected, prior intimation was given to the client
engineer through Concrete Pour Card, seeking his
clearance for pouring the concrete
Concrete was poured in successive layers in its final
position, to avoid segregation due to re-handling.
Concrete was placed carefully to avoid
displacement of side shuttering and reinforcement
The receiving hopper of the pumps was provided
with hydraulically operated remixing blades to keep
the concrete agitated continuously and maintain
consistency and uniformity

COMPACTION OF CONCRETE
Each layer of Fresh Concrete was compacted by
vibrators to the minimum practicable consolidated
volume
Immersion type Vibrators was inserted in a vertical
position at intervals of about 300mm to 450mm
The vibrators were withdrawn slowly out of the
Concrete, approximately at the rate of 75mm/sec

POST CONCRETE INSPECTION

Post concrete inspection was carried out after removal
of shuttering for identifying defects like honeycombed
surface, unset concrete or any other defects. Report of
the same was submitted.

RMC plant
RMC plant was located
just 500 m from the
site for a regular and
timely delivery of
concrete to the site.
The working of the
RMC plant acts can be
shown with the help of
a flowchart.
