THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT

In a study entitled The Science Behind IT of
Yao (2009) it highlights that, computers and
internet, and more broadly information
technology, have evolved to become essential
in all types of work as well in peoples daily
life.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT

Information Technology (IT) is the
application of computers and
telecommunications equipment to store,
retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, often
in the context of a business or other
enterprise. IT is considered a subset of
information and communications technology
(ICT).

SMARTPHONES
Smartphones combine cellular radio
technology with specially designed processors.
As smartphones have evolved, app developers
have found new, ingenious ways to use
hardware and wireless connectivity to make
information instantly available to users.

ADVANTAGES OF
USINGSMARTPHONES

Smart phones have the ability to browse full

websites with large amount of data and it will
appear the same way as it is in the desktop
browser.
Also has QWERTY keyboard which is similar to the
computer keyboard.
Smart phone also has a GPS which can be used to
locate places that are new to you.

ADVANTAGES OF
USINGSMARTPHONES
When it comes to messaging, a smart phone will
send messages and also emails.

DISADVANTAGES OF
USINGSMARTPHONES
Smart phones are not durable especially when not
taken good care of.
It is very expensive to buy compared to other
phones.

DISADVANTAGES OF
USINGSMARTPHONES
Many of the applications which need to be on the
smartphone, need to be mastered to avoid
confusion when operating it.
It can only work efficiently where there is
accessible internet connection when it comes to
browsing.

BENEFITS OF SMARTPHONES
Communication Options
Old school cell phones can call and text. While this
can get your message across, smartphones allow
you multiple ways of communicating.

BENEFITS OF SMARTPHONES
Web Everywhere
At first, Web browsing tended to occur at a desk in
an office, where a wire could reach a PC. Wireless
access and laptops moved the Web to pretty much
anywhere in the house or office, but smartphone
technology, including broadband wireless, has sent
the Web onto the subway, into cars and to the park
-- wherever there is cellular coverage.

BENEFITS OF SMARTPHONES
Device Merger
Once, you might have needed an entire bag to
carry around all the devices needed for daily
business activities. You would need your cell phone
and your PDA. You might also need an MP3 player,
an e-book reader, a camera and a GPS device.

BENEFITS OF SMARTPHONES
Endless Applications
The late twentieth-century saw an explosion of
computer applications. The early twenty-first
century brings hundreds of thousands of
smartphone apps. The sensors built into the
smartphone as well as its portability and
programmability have made it a device with
almost limitless applications.

RADIO-FREQUENCY
IDENTIFICATION (RFID)

RFID APPLICATIONS
Access management
Tracking of goods
Tracking of persons and animals
Toll collection andcontactless payment
Machine readable travel documents

RFID APPLICATIONS
Smartdust(for massively distributedsensor
networks)
Tracking sports memorabilia to verify
authenticity
Airport baggage tracking logistics.
Timing sporting events

RFID ADVANTAGES
RFID tags are rugged and robust. It can work at
extreme temperatures and harsh environment.
The tags are available in different shapes, sizes,
types, and materials.
Direct physical contact between the tags and the
reader is not required for the system to work.

RFID ADVANTAGES
Multiple tags can be read at the same time.
RFID systems can identify and track unique items,
unlike the bar code system which identifies only the
manufacturer and the product type.
The entire system is very reliable which allows the use
of RFID tags for security purpose.
The storage capacity of the RFID tags is greater than
any other automatic identification and tracking system.

RFID DISADVANTAGES
The main disadvantage is the high cost involved in
this technology.
Size and weight of the tags is more than that of
the bar code system.
Although the tags work in harsh environment, the
signals from certain types of tags get affected
when they come in close contact with metals or
liquids.

RFID DISADVANTAGES
There is no way in which damaged tags can be
tracked and replaced by tags that are intact.
Although the tags do not require line-of-sight
communication, they can be read within a
specified range only.

RFID DISADVANTAGES
There is no way in which damaged tags can be
tracked and replaced by tags that are intact.
Although the tags do not require line-of-sight
communication, they can be read within a
specified range only.

RFID BENEFITS
The solution does not require a line of sight access
to be able to read tags.
The tag can trigger security alarm systems if
removed from its correct location.
Reader and tag communication are not orientation
sensitive.
Automatic scanning and data logging is possible
without human intervention

RFID BENEFITS
Each tag can have a unique product code like
standardised Electronic Product Code (EPC-code)
and still hold more information in an internal
memory bank.
Each item can individually be labelled.
Tag internal data can be comprehensive, unique in
parts/common in parts, and is compatible with
data processing in ERP system.

RFID BENEFITS
System provides a high degree of security and
product authentication - a tag is more difficult to
counterfeit than a simple barcode.
The supporting data infrastructure can allow data
retrieval and product tracking anywhere provided
the reader is close enough to the tag.

IMPACT OF SMARTPHONES TO
SOCIETY AND ENVIRONMENT
Sarwar and Soomro (2013) states that it is true that
Smartphone has a sizeable impact on society and
other aspects of life. Clearly the enormous usage of
these devices by consumers demonstrates the
volume of this impact. Consumers are in process of
traversing away from the use of conventional cell
phone as the Smartphones are beginning the norm
of the society.

IMPACT OF SMARTPHONES TO
SOCIETY AND ENVIRONMENT
The development in technology has given people
better means to lead their life and enjoy being
associated with different things. The applications
one can access using their smartphones are
unlimited (Jesensky, 2013).

IMPACT OF RFID TO SOCIETY

AND ENVIRONMENT
Locquenghien (2006) states that Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) is a rapidly evolving
technology. While industrialists hope that the use
of RFID will bring about great benefits, civil rights
activists warn against the dangers.

IMPACT OF INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY TO SOCIETY
Positive impact of technology:
Technology impacts on our daily lives. Our
environments are all so full of technology to the
point that most of the time we take it for granted
and never actually notice the level of impact that
it has on us until when we have no telephone,
transport, water or electricity.

IMPACT OF INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY TO SOCIETY
Negative impacts of technology:
With every advancement that is made in the
technological world, creative destruction results.
Every new form of technology gets into the market
together with long term consequences that are
most of the time not foreseeable.

Today Information Technology are devices which

provide all the facilities what a user need in his
daily life. There is also a lot of perceptions about
that Information Technology are getting really
advance day by day. Technicians are committing
their time to explore new technologies and putting
them into a technology for the beneficial future of
human being.
