Designing the Main City:

For the design of my main city I decided that I needed to create a place where the inhabitants would
never have to go down to the ground if they didnt want to. This meant that I had to include a
continuous water source as well as a way to grow food and create energy. To do this I looked up fog
harvesters which are used in certain parts of Africa which collect fresh water from the clouds. The
orange objects are the water containers which also pump water to the city below and the domes
behind them. The domes are where the inhabitants grow their crops and the windmills and solar
panels on the roofs below are how the city generates all the energy they need. There are ladders on

Designing the Domes:

For the domes I used a lot of blue tones to create a glass effect. I also decided to use
triangular shaped glass panes because I felt that this would be the most effective
design if the domes where going to be used in real life. I based the domes on real
domes such as the ones at the Eden Project and I thought of them as green houses.
There are three main domes in the city and the crops are spread between them. The
two biggest domes that can be seen from the front of the city would be used to grow
crops and food so that the inhabitants can farm and survive in the sky without having to
go down to the earth and the smaller dome at the back is more for recreational use,

Design of the Transport:

The transport system within my city is reminiscent of ski lifts, but instead of hanging they travel
like trains along tracks. I designed them to be a bright orange so that they are easy to see and
can be marked out as public transport, similar to how main city buses are red. They are circular
and have a main window at the front so that they can move throughout the city easily and to use
minimal space for convenience. The tracks would hang suspended around the city and there
would be main stations which are platforms where people can change and get out the carts. The
carts wouldnt have a driver, such as the DLR line so that space can be preserved. There are

Telescopes:

There are two main telescopes on the outside of the building which are used to
view the world below. They are orange so that they can stand out and they are
attached to platforms which can be accessed by the public. The two main white
buildings are laboratories which are used to discover the world around them from

collectors. The nets collect the water
and the orange collectors contain the
water that the nets gather.

The telescopes are orange so that they stand out and so that they work
well with the repeated use of blue throughout my work. The telescope is
attached to a grey observation tower and there are platforms which also
allow the public to have access to the telescope.
