Speaker name

P54x Design evolution K

P54x line differential protection now incorporates
the proven technology of the sub-cycle
distance MiCOMho P443, merged as one single
Intelligent Electronic Device (IED).

Optional Distance that includes:

full redundant five zones sub-cycle distance protection that

can work independently, as main 1 or main 2 protection.

Alternatively, each zone can be set independently to work
in case of communication failure.

And a phase segregated aided directional earth fault DEF to
provide high resistance ground fault detection. The "Virtual
Current Polarizing" feature even ensures correct operation
when the fault generates negligible zero voltage.

Two independent tele-protection schemes each using a
separate communication channel. The distance and DEF
functions are therefore flexible in configuration, to operate in
shared channel logic or in discrete modes.

Differential
current
transformer
supervision
provides stability of the
differential protection in case
of failure on any CT wire in the
differential zone. P54x will
detect which one of the local
or remote current transformers
has failed, making it easy for
the user to identify the
affected CT circuit.

GPS sampling synchronizing that is now available in P543
to P546 models, caters for differences between Tx and Rx
path routing, typically found in SONET (synchronous
digital hierarchy) multiplexed applications.

A comprehensive implementation of
IEC61850, allows interoperability with other
vendors' IEDs and systems, and easy
integration with the PACiS substation control
systems.
IEC61850 dispatches for P543-P546 start in
June 2006.

IRIB B can now be modulated or

demodulated (order option from June 2006)

InterMiCOM64 Is very similar to previous Intertrips but two modes of

operation are now available: Direct trip and Permissive. A Direct trip
command is valid after 2 consecutive received while permissive is
valid with one message received.
If no differential protection is used, InterMiCOM64 can be set to work
as a standalone feature and it will be slightly faster compared with
the one running along differential comms and also will offer a pass
though feature for 3-ended scheme applications
