Factors to be considered before planning a lesson:

1) Lesson focus: Present indefinite tense.


2) Age of the students: 8 to 10.
3) Grade: 4th.
4) Gender: Both (Male & Female).
5) Previous knowledge: Students have knowledge about the sentence structure
SVO.

6) Time: 45 minutes.

Simple indefinite tense


Presentation of lesson: (20 Minutes)

The simple present tense in English


is used to describe an action that is
regular, true or normal.
We use the present tense:
1) For repeated or regular actions
in the present time period.
) I always go to school by bus.

2) For universal truths.


Sun rises in the east.

3) For habits.

Rules of present indefinite tense

Addition of (S), (ES) with 1st form of verb in third person.

The spelling for the verb in the third person differs depending
on the ending of that verb:
1) For verbs that end in-O, -CH, -SH, -SS, -X,or-Zwe addESin the third person.
) go goes
) catch catches
) wash washes
) kiss kisses
) fix fixes
) buzz buzzes

2) For verbs that end in aconsonant + Y, we remove theYand


add-IES.
marry marries.
study studies.
carry carries.
worry worries.
NOTE: For verbs that end in avowel + Y, we just add-S.
play plays.
enjoy enjoys.
say says.
Use of DO and DOES.
