Justify the distribution of food to

the needy and underprivileged
people

The Malaysian Medical Relief Society

or MERCY Malaysia was established
in June 1999 with the following aim:
To offer humanitarian relief to the
needy
To distribute food , clothing, blankets,
tents and other essential items to
people affected by natural and manmade disasters in various parts of the
world such as during tsunami

Relate table manner with

customary sensitive and
religious
beliefs
1. Malaysia is a multi-ethnic, multiculture and multi-religious nation, so
we must be sensitive to the eating
habits of people of different cultures
and religious.

Muslims are forbidden by God to eat

pork and other non-halal food.

Cows are sacred to the Hindus,

therefore, the Hindus do not eat
beef.

Some people are vegetarian to show

their compassion for animals or for
healthy reasons.

Always wash your hands before

eating and after eating .

As Asian, when we dine, the younger

ones should serve the elders and let
the elders eat first.

2. Every year, the Muslims would

slaughter goats and cows and
distribute the meat to the poor and
needy during Hari Raya Qurban.
3. The non-Muslims would distribute
food to the underprivileged at old
folks homes or orphanages during
their festive celebrations.

Conclusion
Food nutrition is a key element in
maintaining our overall physical well being.
We must always pay attention to the foods
that we eat because they will eventually
impact our health, for better or for worst.
We have more information available about
the benefits of every particular food group
than weve ever had before, which is why
we also have a bigger responsibility than
ever before to make assertive and
responsible food choices.

Nutrition is a process by which

organisms obtain food or nutrients.
Generally, living things need food to
provide energy, grow, repair worn-out
or damaged tissues and maintain
general health. Based on their
properties and function, food can be
classified into seven main classes,
carbohydrates, proteins, fats,
vitamins, minerals, fibre and water.
