Identifying the challenges in heritage

urban regeneration process.

My Perspective
Heritage Towns Are Planned In consideration Of Its Own
Augmentation Factors And It Endow Us A Formula For
Further Expansion Of It.
The principles used to extrapolate the growth of the
ancient cities are applicable for Present day cities.

South India being significant in cultural and religious facet led

to the development of sustainable smart towns which are now
under intimidation due to
population migration to the town,
ignorance of city inmates in preserving the fabric of the
town
deficit policy framing by governing authorities.
In order to address these, necessary urban regeneration
policies to be proposed to sustain its heritage and
implementing it involves great challenges.

The southern part of India experienced a rich

multifaceted administration starting from 1st century till
19th century ,which a series of developments took place and
one overtook each other by its smartness which led to a
sustainable environment .

Now the recent developments made by the migrated

people and deficit policy framing by the governing
authorities led the town to urbanize in unethical manner
which the heritage sustainability is under intimidation.

Hence necessary urban regeneration policies to be

proposed and implemented, and implementing it involves
great challenges which have to be mitigated to achieve a
smart heritage city.

principles are being adopted, and to study the feasibility of
transformation in to smart cities.
But Now the recent developments or the growth of the

regeneration proposals needs to be addressed by identifying
the challenges in adopting it.

the existing scenario and proposal implementation involved
in process of urban regeneration as an upliftment of the
heritage society and social well being.
The methodology of the research is based upon the study
of existing scenario by physical survey and relevant

intimidation and the study of the development proposals
by the governing bodies to mitigate it.

Smart heritage
City
Adopting the concepts of present smart city concepts
into Heritage planned city which was already a smart city
during olden days can be termed as smart heritage cities.
This is to promote heritage planned cities to the achieve
the requirements of the present cities provided with
infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its
citizens, a clean and sustainable environment without
compromising the heritage character of the city,.

Moreover the heritage planned cities are planned for

smartness during its period considering several
parameters hence transformation the heritage planned
cities in to sustainable smart cities is a value addition
process of the present generation and it requires very
minimal inputs.

taken care in the heritage planned cities. Hence the
