Overview

Patient and doctor wont always near each other.

Background

To integrate ECG, HR, RR, SpO2 and body

temperature measurement in one device using
e-Health Platform.
To implement ZigBee protocol in data
transmission from sensors to PC.
To display the data with GUI using real-time
chart and numeric form.

Objective

Vital Signs
ZigBee Protocol
e-Health Sensor Platform

Literature Review

Measurements of basic body functions.

Consist of:

Electrocardiogram
Heart Rate
Respiration Rate
Oxygen Saturation
Body Temperature

Vital Signs

Protocol for WPAN

Based on IEEE 802.15.4
Work in frequency of 2.4 GHz with data rate of
250 kbps.
Support star, mesh and cluster tree network
topology.

ZigBee Protocol

ZigBee Stack Layer

ZigBee Device Types

64-bit addressing

Assigned during manufacturing

Includes a 3-byte OUI from IEEE

16-bit addressing

Received when join a ZigBee network

Not static

Respiratory Rate Measurement Test

Maximum communication range using ZigBee

protocol is 20 meter with success rate of 62%100%
ECG measurement can show a decent signal
that show P, Q, R, S and T component.
Temperature measurement has measurement
error deviation of 1.8C or 5.1% from digital
thermometer result.

Conclusion

Respiratory rate measurement has

measurement error deviation of 1
breath/minute or 5.3 breath/minute from
manual measurement.
From overall results, the designed device has
satisfied the requirement.
