HISTORY OF

FLYING
For many centuries, humans have tried to fly just
like the birds and have studied the flight of birds.
They wanted to create a device which will help
them to fly in the airspace above the land. The
results of that were often disastrous as the muscles
of the human arms are not like a birds and can not
move with the strength of a bird. The Greek legend
of Daedalus and Icarus is one of the earliest known,
others come down to us from India, China and the
European Dark Ages.
Story About Icarus and Daedalus

Daedalus and his son Icarus were trapped on the
island. To be freed and left the island Daedalus
decided to make wings for himself and his young
son. He imported the feathers together, from
smallest to largest creating a large area.
Feathers provided with wax so that they look like a
bird's wing. When the work was done, the Daedalus
tried them out and then bolted his son Icarus, and
taught him how to fly. After that they both took off.
In the 18th century, in many countries of the world,
were all serious notice and thoughts on achieving
the age-old human dream, to succeed to fly.

Leonardo da Vinci - The Ornithopter
and the Study of Flight
Leonardo da Vinci made the first real studies of
flight in the 1480's. He had over 100 drawings that
illustrated his theories on bird and mechanical
flight. The drawings illustrated the wings and tails
of birds, ideas for man carrying machines, and
devices for the testing of wings. The Ornithopter
flying machine was never actually created. It was a
design that Leonardo da Vinci created to show
how man could fly.

Joseph and Jacques Montgolfier - The
Flight of the First Hot Air Ballo
The Montgolfier brothers were inventors of the first hot air balloon.
They used the smoke from a fire to blow hot air into a silk bag. The
silk bag was attached to a basket. The hot air then rose and allowed
the balloon to be lighter-than-air.
-In the 19th November in 1783. The balloon took off from the yard of
the castle of Versailles in France. The first passengers in the colorful
balloon were a sheep, rooster and duck.
-After this first success, the brothers began to send men up in hot air
balloons. The first manned flight was on November 21. 1783.
First they applied balloons and blimps to transport mail and
passengers.
There were present competitive ambitions of achieving results,
flyover distance between two distant places. One of the challenges
was flying over the English Channel, then the distance between
Europe and Amerika. That has succeeded American pilot Charles
Lindbergh.

Orville Wright & Wilbur Wright - First
Piloted & Powered Airplane

The inventors of the first airplane were Orville and
Wilbur Wright. On December 17, 1903, the Wright
brothers made the first successful experiment in
which a machine (aka airplane) carrying a man rose
by its own power, flew naturally and at even speed,
and descended without damage.

1799-1850's - George Cayley - Gliders
Sir George Cayley is considered the father of
aerodynamics. He worked to discover a way
that man could fly. Cayley designed many
different versions of gliders that used the
movements of the body to control. He
changed the shape of the wings so that the air
would flow over the wings correctly. Cayley
designed a tail for the gliders to help with the
stability.

Wright brothers

Wright Brothers have built their first motor airplane
Flyer I and took off with it . In December in 1903.
they took away parts of his aircraft in North
Carolina at the beach , and there made an aircraft.
After one unsuccessful attempt on December 14, ,
historic flight took place on 17. December in 1903.
The first successful flight was 37 meters long and
lasted 12 seconds. That day they took another
three flights . Already 1909th The Wilbur Wright
opened in the south of France pilot school in which
students come from all over Europe.

Space flight

The dog Laika was first chosen passenger for space
units launched into space 3th November in 1957.
year. The first man who traveled through space was
Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in 1961. The
following year Americans sent their first astronaut
John galena in Earth orbit.

Serbian Army was among the first in Europe to
introduce into operational use and planes. The first
Serbian pilot with a pilot's license was Michael
Petrovi, a trained in France.
