Matthew 6:9-13
9"This is how you should pray. " 'Our Father in heaven,
may your name be honored.
10May your kingdom come. May what you want to
happen be done on earth as it is done in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our sins, just as we also have forgiven those
who sin against us.
13 Keep us from falling into sin when we are tempted.
Save us from the evil one.'


6 Key Elements to Prayer
1. Give Praise and Glory to God

Verse 9

Our Father in heaven, may
your name be honored

Psalm 110:4
Give thanks as you enter the
gates of his temple. Give
praise as you enter its
courtyards. Give thanks to
him and praise his name.

Pray to God and praise
Him for who He is and
all Hes done for you.

Verse 10
May your kingdom come.
May what you want to
happen be done

Romans 12:2
Don't live any longer the way this
world lives. Let your way of thinking
be completely changed. Then you
will be able to test what God wants
for you. And you will agree that what
he wants is right. His plan is good
and pleasing and perfect.
Pray for God to reveal areas
in your life where you
need to give Him control
and give them up to Him.
Ask God to do what He
wants in your life.

Verse 11

Give us today our daily
bread

Philippians 4:6
Don't worry about anything.
Instead, tell God about
everything. Ask and pray.
Give thanks to him.
Pray to God for your daily
needs and give thanks
for that which Hes
provided for you thus far

Verse 12a

Forgive us our sins

Psalm 66:18
If I had not confessed the
sin in my heart, my Lord
would not have listened
Pray to God for forgiveness
from your sins. Be as
specific as you can with
your sins.

Mark 11:25-26
And when you stand praying,

you or doing something
wrong to you again be
specific.

Verse 13
Keep us from falling into sin
when we are tempted.
Save us from the evil one.

1 Corinthians 10:13
You are tempted in the same way all
other human beings are. God is
faithful. He will not let you be
tempted any more than you can
take. But when you are tempted,
God will give you a way out so that
you can stand up under it.
Pray to God to reveal to you
areas you are weak in and
if something comes to you
now ask for His protection
against being tempted in
that area
Prayer is a communication
with God and doing it
effectively doesnt just
mean talking it also means
listening.
