DEVELOPMENT OF TRACTOR
Mechanization of
agriculture has several
objectives:
1)To increase the
productivity per agricultural
worker.
2)To change the character of
farm work, making it less
arduous and more attractive
3)To improve the quality of
field operation, providing
better soil environment for
seed germination and plant
growth.

ENGINE ASSEMBLY WORKSHOP
The assembly line there
are specific machines
namely:

Leakage test ring for water
jacket cylinder head.
Valve lapping machine.
High pressure pipe
cleaning machine.
Lube oil pump test rig.
Flywheel balancing
machine.
Hydraulic press for press
fitting of components.
Electric oven.

ENGINE WORKSHOP
DIFFERENT SECTIONS
OF ENGINE ASSEMBLY
OCCURS IN
WORKSHOP.
Cylinder Block & Crankcase
. It houses the liners,
which serves as bearings
and guides for the piston
reciprocating in them.
Around the cylinders,
there are passages for
circulation of coolant.
Cylinder block also
carries lubrication oil to
various components
through drilled passages
called oil galleries.
Cylinder Head
It is attached to the top
of the cylinder block,
called block deck, by
means of studs fixed to
the block. It also
contains valve guides,
valve seats, and ports,
cooling water jackets and
threaded holes for spark
plugs or injectors. Heads
are cast from cast iron or
aluminum alloy
Oil Pan Or Sump
Oil pan or sump forms
the bottom half of the
crankcase. It is attached
to the crankcase through
set screws and with a
gasket to make the joint
leak proof.

Piston And Piston Rings
Pistons are made of
aluminum alloys. They
weigh about 1 pound
(0.454 kg). The piston is
slightly smaller than the
cylinder, which allows the
piston to slide up and
down. This is a sliding fit.
Because the pistons are
slightly smaller, there is a
small gap or piston
clearance between the
piston and the cylinder
wall.
Crankshaft And Flywheel
Crankshaft is the engine
component from which the
power is taken. It receives the
power from the connecting rods
in the designated sequence for
onwards transmission to the
clutch and subsequently to the
wheels.

On the rear end is mounted the
flywheel, which serves as the
energy reservoir. The flywheel
also has ring gear mounted on
its periphery having teeth
which mesh with the pinion of
the starting drive to start the
engine.

ENGINE TESTING DEPARTMENT
This department lies adjacent to the engine assembly
section from where the assembled engines are send on
roller conveyor to this department for testing under loaded
conditions.
There are a number of testing beds in this section for
carrying out the test. Each of the test beds has individual
control rooms for monitoring engine performance.
The test beds are made sound proof from inside to reduce
noise pollution. Also there is provision for discharge of
emission of the engine into the atmosphere so to prevent
pollution inside the section.
Each of the test beds are interconnected and are facilitated
by electric overhead cranes for mounting and unmounting
the engines onto the test bench as and when required.
The engines tested and passed from this section are
taken directly to the Tractor Assembly Section for final
assembly to the Chassis.

QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM

As the name suggests this section houses all sorts of tools and measuring
instruments like vernier calipers, vernier height gauge, slip gauges, surface
plates, radius gauges, inside/outside micrometers, depth gauges and
hardness testing machines, torque wrench testing machine etc. for
checking the components purchased from the vendors from outside the
firm before being stored into the store lying adjacent to this section.

Being an ISO certified company; the firm is deeply concerned with
managing of quality of the purchased components which ultimately affect
the quality of its final product.

The Quality Policy of the company can be quoted as:

Producing world class tractors in quality and reliability
Total customer satisfaction through services
Creating a culture among all employed toward total quality concepts
Constant up gradation of technology and human excellence

WORKING ASSEMBLY STEP WISE
STEP
*Differential
*Gear box
*Engine etc.
Chassis assembly of tractor is assembled and transferred to paint shop.
Final assembly received form the paint shop.
Final assembly section
After final assembly section and inspection tractors sent to testing section
Testing section on road / roller and shop
Rework section
If major defect is generated
Rework section generate the date for defects and transfer it to production manager
Production manager
Production manager shares the date with Q.C. and R&D for preventive action
