LESSON PLAN FOR LISTENING AND SPEAKING FOR YEAR 4

THEME : World of Story TOPIC : Little Red Riding Hood LEARNING STANDARD(S) : 1.1.4, 1.3.1 (a) (c) OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to : 1. Name 6 objects shown to them in LCD correctly. 2. Pupils answer at least 5 out of 7 oral questions about the story correctly. 3.Pupils tells sequence of story by looking at the picture correctly. TIME : 60 minutes TEACHING AIDS : LCD, story text, question sheet CROSS CURRICULAR ELEMENT /EDUCATIONAL EMPHASIS: Verbal Linguistics ACTIVITIES/STEPS : Set Induction: Pupils read the title of the story and name objects shown on LCD.. Activity 1: Pupils are shown pictures and teacher read aloud the story in stages. Activity 2: Pupils answers 7 oral questions. Activity 3: Pupils recite the order of the story using the picture shown earlier. REFLECTION :

THEME : World of Story TOPIC : Little Red Riding Hood LEARNING STANDARD(S) : 2.3 OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to : 1. Read a story with correct pronunciation and intonation correctly. 2. Look and dictate 5 simple phrases correctly. 3. Read and pass messages in groups. TIME : 60 minutes TEACHING AIDS : PPT Slides, LCD, laptop and worksheets. CROSS CURRICULAR ELEMENT/EDUCATIONAL EMPHASIS: Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. ACTIVITIES/STEPS : Set Induction: Pupils will engage in a brainstorming session. Activity 1: Pupils will do a shared reading. Activity 2: Pupils will do dictation activity. Activity 3: Pupils will take part in a whispering game in groups. REFLECTION :

THEME : World of Story TOPIC : Little Red Riding Hood LEARNING STANDARD(S) : 3.1.1 (a), (b) OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to : 1. Write a dialogue correctly by looking at the pictures given. 2. Do a role play with the dialogue produce in the correct manner. TIME : 60 minutes TEACHING AIDS : Worksheet, pictures (power point presentation) CROSS CURRICULAR ELEMENT/EDUCATIONAL EMPHASIS: ICT, MI Visual Spatial ACTIVITIES/STEPS : 1. Warm up (5 min): -Recall the story Little Red Riding Hood. -Ask questions on the storyline from the previous lesson. 2. Pre-writing activities: 2.1 Power point presentation on the story Little Red Riding Hood (with pictures). 2.2 Teacher asks pupils to list out few words (related to pictures). 2.3 Verbally pupils say out sentences based on pictures given with guidance. 2.4 Teacher asks volunteers to write the sentences given. 2.5 Pupils read out the sentences.

3. While-writing activities: 3.1 Teacher shows 4 pictures of the story and this time with some guided words given. 3.2 Teacher then divides pupils in 4 groups. 3.3 Assign each group with a picture of the story. 3.4 In group, pupils will do dialogues according to the given picture. 3.5 Teacher monitors groups progress and give guidance where necessary. 4. Post-writing activity (Production): 4.1 Representative from each group will step forward and to do role playing. 4.2 Pupils will use the dialogue for the activity.

5. Summing up: 5.1 Teacher re-caps the whole lesson and talk about values.

THEME : World of Story TOPIC : Little Red Riding Hood LEARNING STANDARD(S) : 5.1.3 Able to use verbs correctly and appropriately: (c) Simple past tense. OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to : 1. Use the simple past tense in the correct way. 2. Usage past tense in a text and get at least 5 out of 7 questions correctly. TIME : 60 minutes TEACHING AIDS : Pictures based on the story, flash cards (Past tense words in block, present tense words in block) CROSS CURRICULAR ELEMENT/EDUCATIONAL EMPHASIS: MI Interpersonal & Predicting ACTIVITIES/STEPS : 1. Warm up/Induction: 1.1 Ask pupils to tell any short story. 1.2 Allow pupils to give out respond. 2. Presentation: 2.1 Pupils read the story on page 110 in TB. 2.2 Teacher will ask pupils to observe the text. 2.3 Teacher will point out that the text was written in the past tense. .

3. Activity 1: 3.1 Teacher ask pupils to underline the past tense words. 3.2 Teacher calls out volunteer to say out the answer and also write on board. (Example base on TB page 110): lived - live was - is wanted - want packed - pack 3.3 Teacher will discuss the present and past tense form of the verb used. 3.4 Teacher will ask pupils to try and write out the present tense form. 4. Activity 2: 4.1 Teacher gives out worksheet with filling in the blank with past tense words. 4.2 Words are given (within 5 minutes). 4.3 Teacher discusses out the answer. 5. Activity 3: 5.1 Summative exercises Make sentences using the following words: live lived is was want wanted pack packed

Conclusion : Teacher will stress out again the important of ed and verb that doesnt change, for example: cut, put, lit..etc.
