Output devices of computer

Output device provides final result after program being executed and result being computed in readable form. It translates processed data from

a machine readable form to a form that can be read and used by the
people. The computer system need an output device to communicate the processed information to the user.

Different types of output device:

A monitor or a display is an electronic visual display for computers.

The monitor comprises the display device, circuitry and an enclosure.

The display device in modern monitors is typically a Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) thin panel, while older monitors use a Cathode Ray

Tube(CRT) about as deep as the screen size.

MONITOR
=> Generally two types of monitor used in computer system:

CRT Monitor- Commonly used in desktop computer. Flat Panel Monitor- Commonly used in portable computer.

=> Monitors can be categorized based on display color , such as

Monochrome Monitor: Displays only one color(green, amber, white) against

contrasting background usually black.

Gray-scale Monitor: Displays varying intensities of gray(from a very light gray to black) against white or off-white background.

Color Monitor: Displays between 16 to 16 million color.

Printer is an output device which produces a representation of an electronic document on physical media such as paper or transparency film. It is an important output device

=> Commonly used printers are:

1. Impact printer 2. Non-impact printer

PRINTER

Impact printer: It creates image by using pins or hammers to press an inked

ribbon against the paper. Ex. Dot Matrix Printer.

Non Impact printer: It creates image using other means. Ex. Laser Printer.

Different types of printer includes:

Dot Matrix Printer. Ink Jet Printer Laser Printer.

Dot Matrix Printer: It is a type of computer printer which uses a print head that

runs back and forth, or in an up and down motion, on the page and prints by
impact, striking an ink-soaked cloth ribbon against the paper, much like the print mechanism on a type writer.

Ink Jet Printer: It is a type of printer that creates a digital image by propelling droplets of ink onto paper, plastic, or other substrates.

Laser Printer: It is an electrostatic digital printer that rapidly produces high

quality text and graphics by passing a laser beam over a charged drum to define a differentially charged image.

Computer speakers, or multimedia speakers are speakers external to a computer,

that disable the lower fidelity built-in speaker, that disable the lower fidelity
built-in-speaker. They often have a low-power internal amplifier. This is initially introduced by Altec Lansing in 1990.

Computer speakers range widely in quality and in price. The computer speakers typically packaged with computer systems are small, plastic, and have mediocre sound quality. Some computer speakers have equalization features such as bass and treble controls.

Some computer displays have rather basic speakers built-in. Laptops come with integrated speakers. Restricted space available in laptops means these speakers usually produce low-quality sound.

The plotter is a computer printer for printing vector graphics. In the past, plotters

were used in applications such as computer-aided design, though they have

generally been replaced with wide-format conventional printers.

Pen plotters can draw complex line art, including text, but do so slowly because

of the mechanical movement of the pens. They are often incapable of efficiently
creating a solid region of color, but can hatch an area by drawing a number of close, regular lines.

In the past, plotters were used in the application such as computer-aided design , though they have generally been replaced with wide-format conventional printers.
