has asked the manpower ministry to cut the period of visa ban on cleaners and construction workers, saying that the decision will discourage small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Muscat Daily has reported. deeds handed out by Omans Ministry of Housing during 2012, underscoring the growing attraction of Omani real estate for Emiratis. According to statistics released by the Housing Ministry on Wednesday, a third of all the properties bought by GCC nationals were concentrated in the Batinah North Governorate, one of the fastest growing regions of the country which also hosts the Sohar Industrial Port and Free Zone. The data released by the Ministry of Housing shows that the total

number of planned land uses in 2012 stood at 58,609 plots in all governorates of the Sultanate and the distributed plots stood at 38,768, according to the indicators released by the sectors of urban planning, land distribution, real estate register and social housing, which find place in the ministry's yearbook 2012. The number of real estate transactions stood at 120,081 with financial value amounted to RO 1,716,268, constituting an increase 45 per cent compared with 2011. The financial charges amounted to RO 25,075 and the number of land plots registered for the first time stood at 100,198. The number of deeds issued at 207,204 in various governorates, whereas the number of deeds for GCC nationals stood at 3,376.
