Technology

Portable Foam Unit

Foam is generated by pumping a mixture of 99% water and 1% surfactant through a generator port where it is mixed with air. As a circulating fluid, foam is pumped down to the tubing through the king swivel to lift sand or debris. The return coming out through the annulus is then collected in the foam breaker tank for further treatment. Due to high viscosity which results in high friction into the tubing or tubing-casing annulus during circulation, high discharge pressure is frequently required in conducting foaming jobs.

BAM / Engineering and Services

Why foam ?
- extremely of depth - the production tubing being too large - the formation pressure being too low - loss circulation formation - combination of the above factors

Advantages of foam
- high viscosity - low density, almost half of water density - low slip velocity - low injection rate

Challenges
- The most challenge in operating the portable foam unit in the Duri Steamflood is determining the optimum pumping rate for individual well condition. - To support zero accident goal, only experienced people may operate the equipment because of high risk due to high pressure work environment.
