Antonio

was one of those who introduced the Art Deco style in the Philippines
The

art deco style, in contrast, was characterized by rounded corners, clean and basic geometric forms, grooves and elements from Egyptian art.
The

steamship style is evident in Nicanor Reyes hall The nrh , constructed in 1939, thus symbolized the newfound progressive ideas of the Filipino educators during the American era.

AWARDS:
He

was conferred the rank and title of National Artist of the Philippines by President Ferdinand Marcos in 1976 MEANING OF WORKS:
"Buildings should be planned with austerity in mind and its stability forever as the aim of true architecture, that buildings must be progressive, simple in design but dignified, true to a purpose without resorting to an applied set of aesthetics and should eternally recreate truth"

Medium of Works

Antonio's design aesthetic was based on

simplicity and functionality, where the beauty of a structure was in the presence of natural light

and ventilation rather than intricate adornments.

He was greatly influenced by the Art Deco style which originated in Paris and was popularized by Le Corbusier. Art Deco involves geometric shapes used to create futuristic-looking compositions, which can be seen in Antonio's use of clean lines and rectangular masses.

ART CRITICISM: Faade of NRH building is one of the nice architect that you can see but the some disadvantages here is in front of Faade and entrance of NRH building is blocked and close by viewing from campus , when there is not freedom of view on it from inside building and campus area , its like keeping beauty in a box ,because its an entrance it should viewing and more visible and bright therefore not to keeping art in cage or in other hand if it would be bigger area for that faade then it will be more beautiful .
