PEACE BE WITH YOU.

TO OFFER AND GIVE THE OTHER PERSON PEACE MEANS TO WISH HIM EVERY KIND OF GOOD.

PEACE = GOOD
WHOLENESS, TOTALITY, WELL-BEING

MAY YOU BE WELL MEANS PEACE

TO BE WELL MEANS TO BE WHOLE, TO BE COMPLETE TO HAVE THE PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL RESOURCES, SUFFICIENT TO ONES NEEDS (Freedman, 1992)

Paradoxes of our Age

We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. Weve learned to rush, but not wait. We have more degrees, but less common sense, more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts but more problems; more medicines, but less wellness. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less.

Weve learned how to make a living, but not a life Weve added years to life, but not life to years. We have higher incomes, but lower morals; more food, but less appeasement; more acquaintance, but fewer friends; more effort but less success. We have bigger house and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time. We have more leisure and less fun; more varieties of food, but less nutrition; two incomes, but more divorce; fancier houses, but broken homes.

We build computers to hold more information and produce more copies than ever, but have less communication. We write more, but learn less; plan more, but accomplish less. Weve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.

Life was so much simpler when APPLE and BLACKBERRY were just edible fruits; when girls giggled and not GOOGLED; when YAHOO was just a happy reaction; no FACEBOOK, only smiling faces; no TWITTER, only birds tweeted; when BUGS were just pets in the garden.

Our existence on this planet is not limited only to the relationship of man with man. We have to acknowledge the presence of God and nature in our existence and survival This is the new philosophy of peace that we must aspire. (Clemente, 2003)
