Chapter 1- Mission in history

1.1. Mission
department of the seven uniformed services in US; greatest navy in the world; larger carrier fleet; equip, train and maintain the Naval Forces.

1.2. History
Revolutionary War establishment of an official navy George Washington first commander; 13 October 1775 US Navys official birthday; after the War of Independence- defend merchant ships; 19th century the American Civil War.

 World War I little actions started to increase; between the two World Wars- formidable force; Pearl Harbor the entrance in the war; 1943 larger than all combatant nations combined; Cold War technological advancement; 2007 US Marine Corps and US Coast Guard; George W. Bush administration dropped out.

Chapter 3 Organization and equipment

2.1. Organization
administration - the Department of the Navy a four-star admiral;

secretary of the navy and chief of naval operations-; Unified Combatant Command Commanders; operating forces six active fleets; shore establishment support the mission of the fleet.

 relationships with other service branches : -The United States Marine Corps; -The United States Coast Guard; personnel 500.000 employees; bases huge number of navy installations;

Eastern United States second greatest assembly; Western United States and Hawaii largest complex; United State territories Guam and Puerto Rico; foreign countries largest: Yokosuka, Japan.
