For the CD design, we found ourselves a template to use as a guide to help us with the overall design.

We removed the outer and inner text using Photoshops eraser tool and then began to add a backing colour which will be black in order to keep the representation of depression and emotional conflict throughout the CD. As for the typography, we have decided to use the original text which was voted as the most favorite in our questionnaires in order to help keep the appealing essence of our CD. We decided to have the text Mad World as a symbolic reference of the the CDs overall meaning of the song as its refers to life as being crazy and mad. To add more effect we added an image of the main protagonist covering his face in order to hide his emotional conflict as well as portray some sort of grief. The black and white colour scheme is also a reference to good and bad due to white representing hope, freedom and happiness whilst black is seen as dark, deadly and depressing.

Our first stage of designing the back panel consisted of beginning with a plain back background. We then used lens flares on photo shop to create a light effect on the panel. This represents that there is light at the end of the tunnel. As this is the last image on the CD digipak it leaves a lingering ideology for the audience , and their last thoughts. The white typography used for the song list contrasts the songs as being reassuring and full of hope in comparison to the range of darkness which represents sorrow and anguish. From our questionnaires we decided that institutional information is essential, along with barcodes and QR codes. All these methods of promotion engage the audience with the artist and develops a relationship with artist and audience.

For our front cover design, we used our main protagonist as a representation of conflicting emotions. The image consists of many facial expressions giving off a range of emotions. The given emotions connote many expressions such as anger, deep thought, confusion and depression in contrast to our choice of song which gives off many conflicting feelings both positive and negative. This can also be evident through our choice of colour scheme. The black and white contrast represents binary oppositions of his multiple emotions. Through the complex format of Photoshop we was able to merge the 3 photos together by blurring specific areas of the images and changing its transparency. This allowed us to create a smoother and more professional image.

For the design of our inside left panel, we again chose to have the main protagonist in order to keep the story flowing through in terms of the emotions and feelings our character is feeling. The shot present was chosen specifically as it portrays our character as being lonely and isolated. The use of the high angle also represents the protagonist as being vulnerable and weak which creates the negative imagery we are trying to portray in relation to the song. The black and white colour scheme is again used in order to keep it flowing throughout the CD panes. The consistent use of it is used in order to maintain the ideals of both good and bad all the way through the album. Even though our song choice expresses the negatives of life situations, the use of black and white contrasts this as the colour white represents hope and assurance. We also included excessive information such as a web link, institution information and our company logo.
