SVAS

The province of Sivas is located in the eastern part of the Central Anatolian region of Turkey; it is the second largest province in Turkey.

History
The route of the Silk Road and the Persian Royal Road passes through Sivas.

According to the written historical sources, the region of Sivas province was first inhabited during the period of the Hittite civilization by the beginning of 2600 BC and became an important settlement.

The region then encountered the reign of Phrygian, Lydian, Assyrian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljukian, Daniment, Ilhanl, Eretna and Ottoman civilizations

Atatrk

The foundations of the modern Turkish Republic were laid in the Sivas Congress assembled on 4 September 1919, during the presidency of Mustafa Kemal Atatrk, thus making the province of Sivas important to the history of the Turkish nation

The city lies at an elevation of 4,193 feet (1,285 m) in the broad valley of the Kzlrmak river.

Mension of the Governer

An important trade and manufacturing center. It has cement, bricks textile, rug furniture factories. and cotton and woolen textiles are all important for the economy of the city . There is Iron ore in Divrii.

Life-giving river of the Anatolian steppe: The Kzlrmak

With countless tributaries and a length of 1355 kilometres the Kzlrmak is Turkeys longest river. It rises on Mount Kzlda in the northeast of the central Anatolian region and is soon fed by a series of streams close to itself in size in its home province of Sivas

CLIMATE The majority of Sivas Province shares the climate of the Central Anatolian Region in which the summers are hot and dry while winters are cold and snowy.

HEALTH TOURISM

Thermal Springs are as follows: 1- KANGAL SPRING 2-HOT SPRING 3-COLD SPRING 4-AKAAIL SPRING 5-ALAMAN SPRING

Sivas is famous for its thermal springs which play an important role in the city's income. The water of these thermal springs can cure many illnesses. The most famous thermal areas are, Scak ermik which has a Physical Theraphy Unit of the University Hospital, Souk ermik and Kangal Balkl Kaplca

The Kangal Fish Spring has a miracle toothless fish that live at 37 degrees of heat and are not to be found anywhere in the world. These wonderful fish never grow more than 10 cm. Scientificially a 21 day cure is recommended for psoriasis for positive result of the treatment. (The fish nibble only dead skin, not live skin)

Lake Gkpnar is 17 metres deep and you can see the bottom clearly. The colours of the water fascinate all visitors and the trout of the lake is very tasty.

Divrii Great Mosque is considered as the 8th wonder of the world and it is famous for its stone carving and its geniously planned mathematical arthitecture. Thats why it is the most famous tourist attraction of Sivas.

This praying man shadow is always observed on sunny days in summer.

The oldest mosque is the Grand Mosque dating from the Turkmen era.

In the city center The mosques and Madrasas belonging to the Seljuk Term are also famous for their lace like stone carving and arthitecture.

The baglama and The saz that you are listening now are very important musical instruments in Sivas. They look the same but the baglama has shorter neck.

Their touchy tunes inspire most composers and singers of Anatolia.

THE ANATOLIAN SHEPHERD DOG

The Kangal or, the Anatolian Shepherd Dog, is unique to Turkey and the countrys only recognised dog breed. It is also one of the rare dogs in the world whose genetic structure is not mixed with the genes of any other breed.
