3. Buddy Love Stage Standards of your buddies are adopted rather than the standards of his parents. A person hangs out with his/her friends and has little time with the opposite sex. If a person does not get past this stage, he/she will always fear getting near the opposite sex. 4. Adolescent stage considered as a trial-anderrors period until a person focuses on one person for longer and longer periods of time. Love begins with the idea of what you can get, not what you can give in a relationship. Therefore, if you have nothing to give, a relationship wont last long.

5. Mature Love Stage Physical attraction become less and less significant, and emotional and psychological factors become more important. While giving love, you are also receiving love. In a spirit of unselfishness, you try to do what is best for your partner.
