Description

Chapter 5: Meet the Lucases! They're a big deal, y'all. Sir Lucas is a knight who just wants to hang out and be a friendly rich dude. Lady Lucas is the Gretchen Wieners to Mrs. Bennet's Regina George. Charlotte gets down to post-ball gossip with the Bennets. Highlights include: Bitch Crackers TM, Mary's musings on pride vs. vanity, the TITULAR LINE!, dogs, and wine.

Chapter 6: The game changer. The Bingley sisters come to visit. They hate the whole family, but see potential for friendship with Jane and Lizzy. Party time! Charlotte and Lizzy discuss Jane's love life. Molly finds out that Jane Austen is dead. Darcy changes his tune. Molly finds out that Mary is just an annoying MT major. Sir William tries to play matchmaker between Lizzy and Darcy. Highlights include: Charlotte in general, Adam Scott's ( https://twitter.com/mradamscott ) nose, damp heat blankets, Darcy's CROOSH, Darcy's inability to socialize, piano duels, gossip session between Darcy and Miss. Bingley, love and marriage.

Chapter 7: Kydia goes to Meryton to get the gossip on the officers who are staying there, and report back to their parents. A note comes inviting Jane to Netherfield to hang out with the Bingley ladies, and she gets stuck there. Oops. Then our girl Lizzy walks all the way to Netherfield by herself, and Molly begins to soften on Darcy (only slightly).  Highlights include: Economic marriage in Austen's time (!!!), Orlando Bloom's face on a pillow, Mean Girls Interlude, Mrs. Bennet's SCHEME, Darcy's boner.

Chapter 8: Lizzy is at a party she does not want to be at.  She's stayed over at Netherfield to keep Jane company, but she HATES IT HERE. The sisters Bingley are assholes. That's pretty much the chapter. Highlights include: Charlie, BOOKS, READING, the accomplishments of women, and "I'm not like other girls."

*Study questions:*

Vanity vs. Pride: Molly agrees that pride is okay until it's not.

Darcy's shift: Molly is speechless.  This is the original "he's mean to you because he likes you." Becca makes a CHEESY postulation on dating. We're still #antidizzy on this podcast.

Austen's perceptions of love: Love is not equal to marriage. Becca recommends Fleabag for some good good flirting.

Lizzy's long walk: Lizzy is willing to literally go the extra mile for people she cares about.

Mrs. Hurst vs. Caroline Bingley: Molly thinks Caroline is a good, supportive friend to Darcy! She thinks Mrs. Hurst is a bitch when she does speak, but speaks much less than Caroline. A prediction: the sisters will sabotage Jingley.

Darcy's life: Pemberly is gorgeous, he has a sister, he has a lot of BOOKS, and a lot of wealth he didn't work for.

Jingley: We STAN, Bingley is a gentle boy. Molly wants to see more of the two of them together. #teamjingley

Funniest quote: "Occupied in observing Mr. Bingley's attentions to her sister, Elizabeth was far from suspecting that she was herself becoming an object of some interest in the eyes of his friend." GOD DARCY, THAT WAS FAST.

Question moving forward: Why, Darcy?? Will Lizzy be receptive if he confesses?

Who wins the chapter? Charlotte!
