The brothers Robert and Joseph Mac Gregor from Whitley Bay in
Northumberland invented watertight steel hatch covers with
mechanical operating systems to replace the time consuming wooden
hatch covers.
ASCARGO originates from CARGOCOVER and ASCA which
company was formed by the three main Swedish shipyards back in
1966.
All ship's hatch covers can be serviced and supplied with spare
parts through the ASCARGO organization.
When there is a need of spare parts and/or service work for our
products, our resources are world-wide.
What we do:
GENERAL SERVICING
This includes new fabrication or repairs to steelwork for all kinds of cargo access equipment,
the renewal or refurbishing of piping, wiring and hydraulics, the replacement of rubber sealing.
Work can be carried out either in port or at sea.
SERVICE STATIONS
ASCARGO INTERNATIONAL Service Stations are in all the world's major ports. All our
Service Stations are capable of providing engineers and equipment and carry out full survey
work.
EMERGENCY REPAIRS
The servicing operation is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ASCARGO engineers can
be ready to meet the ship on arrival in port, to carry out immediate repairs and will, if necessary,
sail with the ship.
Non-standard parts of older or specialised vessels, or any kind of hatch-cover can ususally
be delivered in less than one week.
TRAVELLING SHIPS REPAIRS SQUADS
With adequate planning, major programmes can be made without loss of cargo handling time
or ship's schedule. This involves minor work being carried out at the sea and major work in
port.
SPARE PARTS FOR VESSELS BUILT IN SPAIN
An important requirement of Shipwners who have built vessels in Spain or have purchased
Spanish built ships is their need to obtain Spanish made spare parts. This service is provided
by ASCARGO through its SPARE PARTS DEPT.
HYDRAULIC & PIPEWORK SERVICE
ASCARGO is one of the few Companies which can offer total hydraulic and pipework capability.
We are able to offer our specially trained and highly skilled Engineers and pipe fitters
experienced in both high and low pressure hydraulic systems in all types of ships. Our repair
facility is capable of repairing hydraulic cylinders, minipacks, power packs, pumps, jacks and
motor gearbox units. We can also design and modify existing designs on such items as minipacks and power packs. Rods and barrels can be replaced, rods and bores re-chromed.
Our factories also manufacture their own hydraulic cylinders, minipacks power packs, giving
a total refurbishment capability.
